Bleeding and skin breakdown on the glans penis?
Hello, I would like to ask about a concern I have.
Two months ago, I noticed discomfort in the glans after masturbation, and I experienced slight pain while washing the glans during showers.
Later, I discovered that there was bleeding when I wiped with tissue, and upon closer inspection, I found that there was a skin tear causing the bleeding.
I thought it would heal after a while, but it hasn't improved; every time I masturbate, the skin on the glans appears wrinkled.
What should I do about this issue? Can I apply medication to resolve it, or should I see a doctor? Thank you!

Ahsin: Hello, I recommend seeing a physician.
It could be a localized infection, possibly combined with glans erosion.
In severe cases, it may lead to deeper infections.

It sounds like you are experiencing some discomfort and irritation on the glans (the head of the penis), which has led to bleeding and skin irritation. This can be concerning, and it's important to address it properly to avoid further complications.
First, let's consider the symptoms you described. The irritation and bleeding after masturbation could be due to a few different factors. One common cause is friction or trauma to the sensitive skin of the glans, especially if there is insufficient lubrication during masturbation. This can lead to micro-tears in the skin, resulting in pain, irritation, and bleeding. Additionally, if you are experiencing any inflammation or infection, this could exacerbate the symptoms.
Another possibility is that you might be dealing with a condition known as balanitis, which is inflammation of the glans. Balanitis can be caused by various factors, including poor hygiene, irritants (such as soaps or lotions), infections (bacterial or fungal), or skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis. Symptoms typically include redness, swelling, irritation, and sometimes discharge.
Given the persistence of your symptoms, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional, preferably a urologist or dermatologist, who can provide a thorough examination and diagnosis. They may recommend specific treatments based on the underlying cause. For instance, if it is determined that you have balanitis, treatment may include topical antifungal or antibiotic creams, depending on whether the cause is fungal or bacterial.
In the meantime, here are some general recommendations to help manage your symptoms:
1. Gentle Hygiene: Ensure that you are cleaning the area gently with mild, unscented soap and water. Avoid using harsh soaps or products that may irritate the skin further.
2. Avoid Irritants: Stay away from any products that might irritate the skin, such as scented lotions, soaps, or other personal care products.
3. Lubrication: If you continue to masturbate, consider using a water-based lubricant to reduce friction and prevent further irritation.
4. Avoid Tight Clothing: Wearing loose-fitting underwear and clothing can help reduce friction and allow the area to breathe.
5. Monitor Symptoms: Keep an eye on your symptoms. If you notice any signs of infection, such as increased redness, swelling, or discharge, seek medical attention promptly.
6. Avoid Sexual Activity: Until you have seen a doctor and your symptoms have improved, it may be wise to refrain from sexual activity, including masturbation, to prevent further irritation.
In conclusion, while topical treatments may provide some relief, it is crucial to identify the underlying cause of your symptoms. A healthcare professional can offer the best guidance and treatment options tailored to your specific situation. Do not hesitate to seek medical attention, as early intervention can help prevent complications and promote healing.
