Irregular menstruation after taking emergency contraceptive pills?

My menstrual cycle has always been regular, occurring approximately every 30 days, and lasting about a week.
This month, my period started on December 22, and I began taking the contraceptive pill "Yueji" on the first day of my period.
However, the blood flow has been very light, only requiring a panty liner, and by the third day, there was no bleeding at all.
I have consulted a doctor, who confirmed that I am not pregnant and there are no other unusual conditions.
The doctor advised me to continue taking Yueji and to observe my cycle next month to see if it normalizes.
However, on December 31, I noticed a small amount of bleeding.
Am I experiencing irregular menstruation? I have taken Yueji before without any issues.
Could this be related to the contraceptive pill? Should I continue taking it or stop?

It is still necessary to have the prescribing physician conduct an examination before making a decision.

Experiencing irregular periods after starting birth control pills is a common concern among many women. Birth control pills, such as the one you mentioned (悦己), can cause changes in menstrual patterns, especially during the initial months of use. It is important to understand how these pills work and what to expect when you start taking them.

When you begin taking birth control pills, your body undergoes hormonal adjustments. Birth control pills typically contain synthetic versions of estrogen and progesterone, which work to prevent ovulation, thicken cervical mucus, and thin the uterine lining. These hormonal changes can lead to variations in your menstrual cycle, especially in the first few months. Some women may experience lighter periods, irregular bleeding, or even missed periods altogether. This is often referred to as "breakthrough bleeding" and is generally not a cause for concern.

In your case, since you mentioned that your periods were regular prior to starting the pill, the changes you are experiencing—such as a lighter flow and irregular bleeding—could be attributed to the hormonal adjustments your body is making in response to the birth control. It is not uncommon for women to have lighter periods or even spotting during the first few months of taking the pill. This can happen as your body adapts to the new hormone levels.

The fact that you have already consulted with a healthcare provider and confirmed that you are not pregnant is reassuring. Your doctor’s advice to continue taking the pill and monitor your cycle for the next month is sound. It is essential to give your body some time to adjust to the new hormonal environment. Many women find that their cycles become more regular and predictable after a few months of consistent use of the pill.

If you continue to experience irregular bleeding or if the bleeding becomes heavy or bothersome, it would be wise to follow up with your healthcare provider. They may consider adjusting your prescription or exploring other options if necessary. It is also important to note that if you experience any severe side effects, such as significant pain, heavy bleeding, or other unusual symptoms, you should seek medical attention promptly.

In summary, irregular periods after starting birth control pills are common and usually resolve within a few months as your body adjusts. It is essential to follow your healthcare provider's recommendations and give your body time to adapt. If you have any concerns or if your symptoms persist, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for further evaluation and guidance.
