Swelling of the inner foreskin?

I don't know why in the past few days, the inside of my foreskin has swollen, it itches, and there is some foul-smelling discharge.
It doesn't hurt, and urination is normal, but the sudden swelling feels very strange.
Additionally, I often experience redness inside the foreskin, abnormal discharge, and itching.
After having intercourse with my girlfriend, I am hesitant to retract the foreskin to wash because it hurts a lot.
I'm not sure if there are any ways to improve this condition.

If there is significant inflammation of the foreskin, it is advisable to seek medical attention promptly.
It is important to note that a simple description cannot adequately assess the condition.
Therefore, if you are experiencing discomfort or any abnormalities, it is recommended to consult a physician for evaluation and examination.
Doctors often need to take a medical history, perform visual inspections, palpation, and other examinations to establish a diagnosis and determine the appropriate treatment.

More Info

Swelling and discomfort under the foreskin can be concerning and may indicate several underlying conditions. Based on your description, it seems you are experiencing symptoms such as swelling, itching, and the presence of an unusual discharge, which can be indicative of a few potential issues. Here’s a comprehensive overview of possible causes and solutions.

Possible Causes
1. Balanitis: This is an inflammation of the glans (the head of the penis) and can often extend to the foreskin. It can be caused by poor hygiene, infections (bacterial or fungal), or irritants such as soaps or lotions. Symptoms typically include redness, swelling, itching, and discharge.

2. Phimosis: This condition occurs when the foreskin cannot be easily retracted over the glans. It can lead to discomfort, swelling, and difficulty cleaning the area, which might contribute to infections.

3. Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): Certain STIs can cause symptoms similar to what you are describing, including discharge and irritation. It’s important to consider this possibility, especially if you have had unprotected sexual encounters.

4. Yeast Infection: A yeast infection can occur in men, particularly if there is an imbalance in the natural flora of the genital area. Symptoms may include itching, swelling, and a thick, white discharge.

5. Allergic Reactions: Sometimes, reactions to products such as condoms, lubricants, or soaps can cause irritation and swelling.

Solutions and Recommendations
1. Maintain Hygiene: Ensure that you are cleaning the area properly. Gently retract the foreskin (if possible) and wash with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh soaps or products that may irritate the skin.

2. Avoid Irritants: If you suspect that a product may be causing irritation, discontinue its use. This includes soaps, lotions, and any sexual lubricants that may contain irritating chemicals.

3. Topical Treatments: Over-the-counter antifungal creams can be effective if a yeast infection is suspected. If you believe it may be a bacterial infection, consult a healthcare provider for appropriate topical or oral antibiotics.

4. Consult a Healthcare Provider: Given the symptoms you are experiencing, it is crucial to seek medical advice. A healthcare provider can perform a physical examination, possibly take a sample of the discharge for testing, and provide a definitive diagnosis and treatment plan.

5. Avoid Sexual Activity: Until you have consulted a healthcare provider and resolved the symptoms, it may be wise to avoid sexual activity to prevent further irritation or potential transmission of infections.

6. Consider Circumcision: In cases of recurrent balanitis or phimosis, circumcision may be recommended as a long-term solution to prevent future issues.

Conclusion
It is essential to address these symptoms promptly, as they can lead to more significant health issues if left untreated. While some conditions may resolve with proper hygiene and over-the-counter treatments, others may require medical intervention. Do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation and personalized treatment plan. Your health and comfort are paramount, and seeking help is a proactive step towards resolution.
