Testicular issues?

Dear Dr.
Hsu,
I consulted you on the 25th of this month, but I still have a few concerns.

1.
I have noticed a small lump above my right testicle (on the inner side near the left testicle, in an area that is usually covered when the penis is hanging down).
If it does not grow or change in any other way, is there still a possibility that it could be a malignant lesion? Would it not be advisable to simply observe it for a few weeks? Especially since I currently have no other symptoms, I might be in a bit of denial; if there are any changes, I will definitely seek medical attention.
I just really hope it is only a benign condition.
2.
Due to the nature of my work, I often sit for long periods.
Additionally, I have a high libido and frequently masturbate, sometimes even twice a day.
Could this be a potential cause of my hematospermia?

Dr. Xu Weikai reply Urology

Hello, it is possible that you have a lesion on the scrotal epidermis.
You can palpate it to see if it is connected to the testicle; if it is connected, it may be a testicular tumor.
It is difficult to determine whether this is the cause of hematospermia.
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask, and we can discuss and research it further.
Please note that online responses should only be used as a reference; it is essential to seek medical attention at a healthcare facility if necessary.

Hsu Wei-Kai, Director of the Urology Department at Taitung Hospital, Ministry of Health and Welfare.

When it comes to testicular concerns, it's crucial to approach the situation with a balanced mindset, especially when it involves potential health issues. Based on your inquiries, let's delve into your concerns regarding the small bump on your right testicle and the implications of your lifestyle choices.

1. Understanding the Small Bump on Your Testicle:
The presence of a small bump on the testicle can be concerning, but it’s important to remember that not all lumps or bumps are indicative of malignancy. Many testicular lumps are benign, such as epididymal cysts or varicoceles. However, the fact that you have noticed this bump and are aware of it is a positive first step.
If the bump has not changed in size or characteristics, it may not be an immediate cause for alarm. However, it is essential to monitor it closely. If you notice any changes—such as an increase in size, pain, or any other unusual symptoms—seeking medical advice promptly is advisable. While "watchful waiting" can be a reasonable approach for some benign conditions, it is always better to err on the side of caution, especially when it comes to testicular health. If you are feeling anxious about it, consider scheduling an appointment with a healthcare provider for a thorough examination. They can provide reassurance and, if necessary, conduct imaging studies to rule out any serious conditions.

2. Impact of Lifestyle on Testicular Health:
Your lifestyle choices, including prolonged sitting and frequent masturbation, can have various effects on your sexual health and overall well-being. Long periods of sitting can lead to issues such as reduced blood flow and increased pressure in the pelvic area, which might contribute to discomfort or other symptoms. However, there is no direct evidence linking frequent masturbation to blood in semen (hematospermia).
Hematospermia can arise from several factors, including infections, inflammation, or trauma. If you are experiencing blood in your semen, it is essential to consult a healthcare professional. They can evaluate your symptoms, conduct necessary tests, and provide appropriate treatment if needed.

In summary, while it is understandable to feel apprehensive about changes in your body, maintaining open communication with a healthcare provider is key. Regular self-examinations are important, but if you notice any changes or have concerns, do not hesitate to seek medical advice. Your health should always be a priority, and addressing concerns early can lead to better outcomes. Remember, it’s always better to be safe and informed rather than to let anxiety dictate your health decisions.
