Loss of Penis Sensation: Changes in Sexual Pleasure - Urology

Loss of penile sensation and pleasure?

Hello doctor, about three years ago I suddenly noticed that my erections were no longer as firm as they used to be during masturbation.
However, my libido remains intact.
Subsequently, the pleasurable sensations during masturbation, which used to allow me to feel the buildup to ejaculation while sliding my penis back and forth, have disappeared.
It feels as if there is no sensation in my penis; during masturbation, I only feel the movement without any pleasurable sensations until I start to feel the urge to ejaculate.
At that point, my penis begins to feel a tingling sensation, but within a few seconds, I ejaculate uncontrollably.
What could be the issue?

Hello, it is possible that the habitual stimulation from masturbation has led to insufficient arousal, making it difficult to achieve pleasure.
If there are any unclear points, feel free to ask again, and we can discuss and research further.
Responses from the internet should only be used as a reference; if necessary, it is important to seek medical attention at a healthcare facility.

Loss of penis sensation and changes in sexual pleasure can be concerning and may stem from various factors. It's important to understand that sexual function is complex and can be influenced by physical, psychological, and emotional aspects. Based on your description, it seems you are experiencing a significant change in the sensation and pleasure associated with masturbation and sexual activity. Here are some potential explanations and considerations:
1. Nerve Sensitivity: Over time, repeated stimulation can lead to changes in nerve sensitivity. If you have been engaging in frequent or aggressive masturbation, it may desensitize the nerve endings in the penis, particularly the glans (the head of the penis). This could result in a diminished sensation during sexual activities.

2. Psychological Factors: Anxiety, stress, or psychological issues can significantly impact sexual performance and pleasure. If you are feeling anxious about your sexual health or experiences, this can lead to a decrease in arousal and pleasure. The mind plays a crucial role in sexual function, and psychological barriers can manifest as physical symptoms.

3. Hormonal Changes: Testosterone levels naturally decline with age, but other factors such as stress, diet, and lifestyle can also affect hormone levels. Low testosterone can lead to reduced libido and changes in sexual function. It might be worth discussing your hormone levels with a healthcare provider.

4. Medical Conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis, or Peyronie's disease, can affect sexual function and sensation. If you have any underlying health issues, they may contribute to the changes you are experiencing.

5. Medication Side Effects: If you are taking any medications, particularly antidepressants or medications for high blood pressure, these can have side effects that impact sexual function and sensation. Reviewing your medications with a healthcare provider may provide insights.

6. Circulation Issues: Proper blood flow is essential for sexual arousal and sensation. Conditions that affect circulation, such as cardiovascular disease, can lead to changes in erectile function and sensation.
7. Desensitization from Excessive Stimulation: If you have been using certain techniques or devices during masturbation that provide excessive stimulation, this could lead to a form of desensitization. It may be beneficial to vary your techniques or take breaks to allow your body to recover sensitivity.

Recommendations:
- Consult a Healthcare Provider: It is essential to discuss your symptoms with a healthcare provider, preferably a urologist or a sexual health specialist. They can conduct a thorough evaluation, including a physical examination and possibly blood tests, to rule out any underlying medical conditions.

- Psychological Support: If you suspect that anxiety or stress may be contributing to your symptoms, consider speaking with a mental health professional. Therapy can help address any psychological barriers to sexual pleasure.

- Lifestyle Changes: Focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep. These factors can positively influence sexual health.

- Experiment with Techniques: If you feel comfortable, try varying your masturbation techniques or frequency to see if this helps regain some sensation.
- Avoid Excessive Stimulation: If you have been using devices or techniques that provide intense stimulation, consider reducing their use to allow your body to regain sensitivity.

In conclusion, changes in sexual sensation and pleasure can be multifactorial, and addressing them often requires a holistic approach. Seeking professional advice is crucial for proper diagnosis and treatment. Remember, you are not alone in experiencing these changes, and there are effective ways to address them.
