Blackhead-like lesions on the penis?
I accidentally discovered black spots on my penis.
When I squeezed them, they resembled the size of mature pimples, black and hard.
When I pressed on the spot with my nail, it left a slight imprint.
After squeezing, there was no bleeding or any other abnormalities.
Doctor, based on my description, is this simply a case of acne or could it be another condition?

The presence of black spots on the penis, particularly those that resemble pimples and can be squeezed to release a substance, can be concerning and warrants careful consideration. Based on your description, it is possible that these black spots are sebaceous cysts or comedones (blackheads), which are common skin conditions. However, there are other possibilities that should be considered as well.
Sebaceous cysts are non-cancerous lumps beneath the skin that can occur anywhere on the body, including the genital area. They are typically filled with a substance called sebum, which is produced by sebaceous glands. When these cysts become clogged, they can appear as small, firm bumps that may have a black or dark appearance at the surface. They are usually painless and do not cause any significant symptoms unless they become infected.
On the other hand, comedones, which are a type of acne, can also appear as black spots. These occur when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. The dark color is due to the oxidation of melanin in the skin when exposed to air. If you are experiencing these spots in the genital area, they may be a form of acne, which can occur due to various factors including hormonal changes, friction, or poor hygiene.
It is important to note that while these conditions are generally benign, there are other potential causes for black spots on the penis that may require medical attention. For instance, certain sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can present with similar symptoms, and conditions like pearly penile papules or genital warts may also appear as bumps or spots on the penis. Therefore, it is crucial to differentiate between these possibilities.
Given that you mentioned the spots can be squeezed without bleeding or other symptoms, it leans more towards a benign condition like a sebaceous cyst or comedone. However, if you notice any changes in size, color, or if they become painful, it is essential to seek medical advice from a healthcare professional. A dermatologist or urologist can provide a thorough examination and may perform tests if necessary to rule out any serious conditions.
In terms of treatment, if the spots are indeed sebaceous cysts or comedones, they may not require any intervention unless they become bothersome or infected. In such cases, a healthcare provider may recommend drainage or removal. For acne-related issues, maintaining good hygiene, using non-comedogenic products, and possibly topical treatments can help manage the condition.
In conclusion, while your description suggests that the black spots may be benign, it is always best to consult with a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Early intervention can help alleviate any concerns and ensure that any underlying issues are addressed promptly.
