Pimple inside the nose?
I don't often get acne.
By the time I was in the second year of junior high, I had only experienced three pimples (none of them were small; all three were large, but they would become pus-filled the next day and then I could pop them and they would be fine).
I have also had pimples inside my nose before, but they disappeared quickly, just like the ones on my face.
However, this time it has lasted a bit longer, at least a week, and it feels painful to the touch.
It hurts when I blow my nose and apply pressure.

Understanding painful pimples inside the nose can be quite distressing, especially when they persist for an extended period. The discomfort you are experiencing may be due to several factors, including the nature of the skin inside the nose, potential infections, or even underlying skin conditions.
Firstly, it’s important to recognize that the skin inside the nose is different from the skin on the rest of your face. It is more sensitive and has a higher concentration of sebaceous glands, which can lead to the formation of pimples or cysts. These pimples can be painful, especially if they become inflamed or infected.
One common cause of painful pimples inside the nose is folliculitis, which is an inflammation of the hair follicles. This can occur when bacteria infect the follicles, leading to redness, swelling, and pain. The bacteria Staphylococcus aureus is often responsible for such infections. Another possibility is a condition called nasal vestibulitis, which is an infection of the nasal vestibule (the front part of the nasal cavity). This condition can also cause painful bumps and is often associated with excessive nose picking or nasal trauma.
If the pimple has been present for over a week and is painful, it may be worth considering whether it has become infected. Signs of infection can include increased redness, swelling, warmth, and pus formation. In such cases, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
In terms of treatment, if the pimple is indeed a result of folliculitis or nasal vestibulitis, topical antibiotics may be prescribed to help clear the infection. Over-the-counter topical treatments containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can also be effective for treating acne-like conditions, but care should be taken when applying these products inside the nose due to the sensitive nature of the mucous membranes.
Additionally, maintaining good nasal hygiene is crucial. Avoid picking your nose or inserting objects into your nostrils, as this can introduce bacteria and exacerbate the problem. If you are prone to nasal congestion, using saline nasal sprays can help keep the nasal passages moist and reduce the risk of irritation and infection.
If the pain persists or worsens, or if you notice any other concerning symptoms such as fever or significant swelling, it is essential to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a thorough examination and may recommend further treatments, such as oral antibiotics if a more systemic infection is suspected.
In conclusion, while painful pimples inside the nose can be uncomfortable and concerning, they are often manageable with proper care and treatment. Keeping the area clean, avoiding trauma, and seeking medical advice when necessary can help alleviate the discomfort and prevent further issues. Remember, it’s always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to health concerns, especially those that cause persistent pain.
