Deformity of the genital area?
Hello, doctor.
About a month ago, I suddenly noticed that my pubic area (the triangular area) seemed to be tilted to the right.
It's not very tilted, but my entire penis has also tilted as a result (including when erect).
I haven't felt any hard lumps, and there is no pain.
Urination and ejaculation have been normal.
Last week, I visited an orthopedic doctor, and it was determined that it is not a bone issue.
Although the orthopedic doctor mentioned that this is just due to muscle imbalance, I would like to ask if this could be a symptom of a problem related to the urinary system.
If not, what could this issue possibly be? Additionally, if it remains tilted like this, would I need surgery to correct the position of my penis, or would it still be possible to engage in sexual activity?

Dr. Sun Hongshun reply Urology
Hello, the penis itself does not have bones, so it is not appropriate to see an orthopedic specialist.
Since you have been experiencing symptoms for a month, it is recommended that you promptly visit a urology clinic for evaluation and appropriate advice.

Understanding penile curvature can be a complex issue, and it's important to approach it with a comprehensive understanding of potential causes, concerns, and treatment options. Based on your description, it seems you have noticed a curvature in your penis that developed suddenly about a month ago. While you mentioned that there is no pain, no hard lumps, and normal urinary and sexual function, it is still essential to consider various factors that could contribute to this condition.
One common cause of penile curvature is a condition known as Peyronie's disease, which is characterized by the development of fibrous scar tissue inside the penis, leading to curved, painful erections. However, since you mentioned that there is no pain or hard lumps, it may be less likely that this is the case. Other potential causes of penile curvature can include congenital factors (where the curvature is present from birth), trauma to the penis, or even muscle imbalances as suggested by the orthopedic doctor you consulted.
The fact that your curvature is not accompanied by pain or dysfunction is a positive sign, but it is still advisable to seek further evaluation from a urologist. A urologist specializes in the urinary tract and male reproductive system and can provide a more thorough examination to rule out any underlying conditions that may not be immediately apparent.
In terms of treatment options, if the curvature is mild and does not interfere with sexual function, many men choose to monitor the situation without intervention. However, if the curvature worsens or begins to affect sexual activity, there are several treatment options available. These can range from non-invasive methods, such as oral medications or injections that may help reduce curvature, to surgical options for more severe cases. Surgical intervention is typically considered when the curvature is significant enough to cause pain or difficulty during intercourse.
It's also worth noting that psychological factors can play a role in how one perceives and reacts to changes in penile shape. If the curvature is causing you distress, discussing these feelings with a healthcare professional can be beneficial. They can provide support and guidance, whether through counseling or by discussing the potential for treatment options.
In conclusion, while your situation may not currently indicate a severe medical issue, it is essential to consult with a urologist for a comprehensive evaluation. They can help determine the cause of the curvature and discuss appropriate treatment options if necessary. Remember, open communication with your healthcare provider is key to addressing any concerns you may have about your sexual health and well-being.
