Missed menstruation?

My last menstrual period started on April 11, but it hasn't come yet.
I took a pregnancy test on May 28, and it showed one line.
I've also noticed an increase in vaginal discharge, and a few days ago, my breasts felt a bit sore.
During this time, I've had intercourse with my boyfriend, and he ejaculated inside me.
I want to know if I might be pregnant or if there is an issue with my body.

kowing, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2017/05/31

Answer: Take another pregnancy test on June 4.
If it still shows one line, consider taking medication to induce menstruation.

It sounds like you are experiencing a lot of uncertainty and anxiety regarding your missed period and potential pregnancy. Given your last menstrual period was on April 11 and you took a pregnancy test on May 28 that showed a negative result, there are several factors to consider.

Firstly, it's important to understand that a missed period can be caused by various factors, not just pregnancy. Stress, hormonal imbalances, changes in weight, and certain medical conditions can all lead to irregularities in your menstrual cycle. Since you mentioned feeling a lot of anxiety, this could potentially be a contributing factor to your missed period. Stress can affect your body's hormonal balance, which in turn can disrupt your menstrual cycle.

Regarding your pregnancy concerns, if you had unprotected intercourse and are experiencing symptoms such as breast tenderness and increased vaginal discharge, these could be early signs of pregnancy. However, the negative pregnancy test you took on May 28 suggests that you may not be pregnant, especially if it was taken after your missed period. Home pregnancy tests are generally quite accurate when used correctly, but false negatives can occur, particularly if the test is taken too early or if the urine is diluted.

If your period does not arrive soon, it may be worth repeating the pregnancy test, preferably with the first morning urine, which is typically more concentrated and can provide a more accurate result. If you continue to experience symptoms or if your period remains absent, it would be advisable to consult a healthcare provider. They can perform a blood test for pregnancy, which is more sensitive than a home test, and can also evaluate for other potential health issues that might be affecting your menstrual cycle.

In addition to pregnancy testing, it’s essential to monitor your overall health. If you notice any unusual symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, heavy bleeding, or other concerning signs, seek medical attention promptly. These could indicate a more serious condition that requires immediate care.

Lastly, if you find that anxiety is significantly impacting your daily life or your ability to cope with these uncertainties, consider reaching out for support. Speaking with a mental health professional can provide you with strategies to manage anxiety and help you navigate through this stressful time.

In summary, while a missed period can be concerning, it does not automatically indicate pregnancy. Given your negative test result, it may be more likely that other factors are at play. However, if your period does not return or if you have further concerns, consulting a healthcare provider is the best course of action. They can provide clarity and support tailored to your specific situation.
