Phimosis issues?
Is it normal for the glans to be very sensitive during the first retraction of the foreskin? After retracting to the coronal ridge and ending the erection, the foreskin covers the glans but the opening of the glans is still visible; is this considered normal? (I previously consulted a doctor who said that if the glans opening is visible and not completely covered, circumcision is not necessary.)

When it comes to sensitivity during the retraction of the foreskin, especially for the first time, it is quite common for individuals to experience heightened sensitivity. This sensitivity can be attributed to several factors, including the fact that the glans (the head of the penis) is typically covered by the foreskin, which protects it from direct contact and friction. When the foreskin is retracted, the glans is exposed for the first time, leading to an increased sensitivity due to the new sensations and the lack of previous stimulation.
Regarding your question about whether it is normal for the glans to be partially covered by the foreskin after an erection, the answer is generally yes. It is not uncommon for the foreskin to retract during an erection but still cover part of the glans. As long as the glans can be seen and is not completely covered by the foreskin, this is typically considered normal. The medical advice you received about not needing a circumcision if the glans is not entirely covered is consistent with common medical practice.
However, it is important to note that individual anatomy can vary significantly. Some men may have a tighter foreskin (a condition known as phimosis), which can make retraction difficult or painful. If you experience pain, discomfort, or any other concerning symptoms during retraction, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation.
In terms of hygiene, it's essential to maintain proper care of the area, especially if you are able to retract the foreskin. Regular cleaning can help prevent infections or conditions such as balanitis, which is inflammation of the glans. If you notice any unusual symptoms, such as redness, swelling, or discharge, it is crucial to seek medical advice.
In summary, sensitivity when retracting the foreskin for the first time is normal, and having the foreskin partially cover the glans after an erection is also typically normal. If you have any concerns about your anatomy or experience discomfort, consulting a healthcare provider is always a good step to ensure your health and well-being.
