Unexplained swelling of the penile shaft?
The onset of symptoms occurred approximately 5 to 6 years ago.
I have sought medical attention in the past, but the doctor determined there was no issue.
However, after several years, the symptoms still occasionally reappear.
After much consideration, I decided to ask here before deciding whether to seek medical attention again.
One day, the tip of the penile frenulum suddenly swelled up; it was the first and most severe occurrence (the swollen area was about 0.3 to 0.5 cm), and it was painful to touch.
When I pinched the foreskin with two fingers and applied pressure, it felt as if something was about to burst.
Then, the swollen area deflated instantly, resembling a popped balloon.
After the swelling was relieved, the area felt moist to the touch, and there was no unusual odor when I brought it to my nose.
Subsequently, small round, ball-like growths occasionally appeared along the penile frenulum.
When I applied pressure, they could also be burst.
(The locations vary, and their sizes are approximately 0.1 to 0.3 cm, but they only appear on the penile frenulum.) It seems that due to the pressure, a small dot resembling a puncture mark appeared at the tip of the frenulum.
Could you please tell me what this condition might be?

Hello: The penile seam is due to a previous circumcision? If it recurs, it is recommended to seek medical attention if there are small round nodules appearing.
Wishing you good health.

Understanding unexplained swelling along the penis can be a complex issue, as it may stem from various causes, ranging from benign to more serious conditions. Based on your description, it seems that you have been experiencing recurrent swelling and painful nodules along the penile shaft for several years. This situation can be concerning, and it is essential to consider several potential causes.
One possible explanation for the swelling and nodules could be Peyronie's disease, which is characterized by the development of fibrous scar tissue inside the penis, leading to curved, painful erections. However, the symptoms you describe, particularly the ability to "pop" the swollen areas and the absence of a foul odor, suggest that this may not be the case.
Another possibility is sebaceous cysts or epidermoid cysts, which are common and typically harmless. These cysts can appear as small, round lumps on the skin and may become inflamed or infected, leading to swelling and discomfort. The fact that you can apply pressure and cause them to "pop" could indicate that they are filled with a substance that can be expelled, which is characteristic of cysts.
Folliculitis is another condition to consider. This is an inflammation of the hair follicles, which can occur anywhere on the body, including the genital area. It can present as small, red bumps that may be painful and can sometimes drain pus if they become infected.
In some cases, allergic reactions or irritation from personal care products, soaps, or even friction from clothing can lead to localized swelling and discomfort. If you have recently changed any products or routines, this could be a factor.
Given that you have experienced these symptoms for several years and have previously consulted a physician without a definitive diagnosis, it may be beneficial to seek a second opinion from a urologist. They can perform a thorough examination, possibly including imaging studies or biopsies if necessary, to determine the exact nature of the swelling and provide appropriate treatment options.
In summary, while there are several potential causes for the swelling and nodules along the penis, including cysts, folliculitis, or allergic reactions, a definitive diagnosis can only be made through a clinical evaluation. It is crucial not to ignore these symptoms, especially since they have persisted for years. Consulting a specialist will help ensure that you receive the appropriate care and peace of mind regarding your health.
