Will this result in pregnancy?

Hello Doctor, on July 18th, I was intimate with my boyfriend.
After helping him, he did not ejaculate, but there was a clear fluid that came out from his genitalia.
I'm not sure if it was semen.
After touching him, I also touched myself and inserted my fingers, but not very deeply.
I initially calculated that my period would arrive around July 23rd, but it has been three days now and it still hasn't come.
However, I do feel signs that my period is about to start, and I have breast tenderness.
I'm wondering if the reason for my period being three days late could be due to pregnancy.

Hello, based on your description, the chances of pregnancy are low because there are unlikely to be viable sperm remaining.
However, as long as there are active sperm in the vagina during the ovulation period, regardless of the method of intercourse, there is still a possibility of pregnancy.
It is advisable to take appropriate contraceptive measures.
If your period is more than a week late, you should check for pregnancy.
Thank you! Wishing you peace and health, Dr.
Zhang.

When it comes to the possibility of pregnancy after intimate contact, it's essential to understand the mechanics of conception and the factors that can influence it. Based on your description, you engaged in sexual activity on July 18, where your boyfriend did not ejaculate but did have some clear fluid, which could potentially be pre-ejaculate fluid. This fluid can contain sperm, although typically in lower concentrations than ejaculate.
Given that you are experiencing signs that your period is due, such as breast tenderness and the absence of menstruation, it is understandable to be concerned about the possibility of pregnancy. The timing of your menstrual cycle is also crucial. If your cycle is regular and you expected your period around July 23, a delay of three days could be an early sign of pregnancy. However, it is also important to note that menstrual cycles can be affected by various factors, including stress, hormonal changes, and health conditions, which can lead to a delayed period even when pregnancy is not the cause.

To determine if you are pregnant, the most reliable method is to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are designed to detect the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. For the most accurate results, it is recommended to wait until at least the first day of your missed period to take the test. If you take it too early, you may receive a false negative result.

If the test is positive, it is advisable to schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and to discuss your options moving forward. If the test is negative and your period still does not arrive, you may want to consult with a healthcare professional to explore other potential reasons for the delay.

In summary, while there is a possibility of pregnancy given the circumstances you described, the best course of action is to take a pregnancy test and consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice. Remember that being proactive about your reproductive health is essential, and seeking guidance from a medical professional can provide clarity and support during this time.
