White raised lesions around the penis and mouth?

Hello doctor, I am 15 years old and have never had sexual intercourse.
Two years ago, I developed a few white bumps on my penis, and I also have some at the corner of my mouth.
Sometimes, when I pick at the bumps near my mouth, white substances come out.
I am not sure what this is.

It’s understandable to be concerned about any unusual changes in your body, especially during your teenage years when many changes are occurring. Based on your description of white bumps on the penis and around the mouth, there are a few possibilities to consider, but it’s important to remember that only a healthcare professional can provide a definitive diagnosis.

White Bumps on the Penis
The white bumps you are noticing on the penis could be a few different things:
1. Pearly Penile Papules: These are small, harmless bumps that typically appear around the corona (the ridge) of the glans (the head of the penis). They are a normal anatomical variation and are not a sign of any disease or infection.

2. Fordyce Spots: These are small, painless, pale bumps that can appear on the shaft of the penis and are actually enlarged sebaceous (oil) glands. They are completely normal and do not require treatment.

3. Folliculitis: This is an inflammation of the hair follicles that can cause small red or white bumps. It can occur due to irritation, infection, or blockage of the follicles.

4. Genital Warts: Caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), these can appear as small, flesh-colored or white bumps. They can be transmitted through sexual contact, but since you mentioned that you have not engaged in sexual activity, this may be less likely.

White Bumps at the Corners of the Mouth
The white bumps at the corners of your mouth could also have several explanations:
1. Angular Cheilitis: This condition is characterized by inflammation and cracking at the corners of the mouth, often accompanied by white patches. It can be caused by a fungal infection, bacterial infection, or nutritional deficiencies (like vitamin B12 or iron).

2. Canker Sores: These are small, painful ulcers that can appear in the mouth, including at the corners. They are not contagious and can be triggered by stress, certain foods, or hormonal changes.

3. Oral Thrush: This is a yeast infection in the mouth caused by Candida, which can lead to white patches or bumps. It is more common in individuals with weakened immune systems or those who have been on antibiotics.

Recommendations
1. Consult a Healthcare Professional: It’s crucial to see a doctor or a dermatologist for an accurate diagnosis. They can examine the bumps and may perform tests if necessary.

2. Avoid Picking: While it might be tempting to pick at the bumps, doing so can lead to irritation, infection, or scarring.

3. Maintain Good Hygiene: Keeping the genital area clean and dry can help prevent irritation and infections. Similarly, maintaining oral hygiene can help with any mouth-related issues.

4. Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of any changes in the bumps, such as size, color, or if they become painful. This information can be helpful for your healthcare provider.

5. Healthy Lifestyle: Eating a balanced diet, staying hydrated, and managing stress can contribute to overall health and may help prevent some conditions.

In conclusion, while the white bumps you are experiencing may be benign, it is essential to seek professional medical advice to rule out any serious conditions and to receive appropriate care. Remember, your health is important, and addressing these concerns early can lead to better outcomes.
