Postoperative care for endometriotic cyst surgery?

Hello, doctor.
I had surgery for a chocolate cyst over 10 cm in March this year, and I received my second injection of long-acting Decapeptyl in April.
I will start taking Letrozole in October.
Can I get the BNT vaccine? Since I have experienced frequent hot flashes after receiving Decapeptyl and sometimes have palpitations upon waking (I previously consulted a cardiologist who mentioned I have mild mitral valve prolapse), I am concerned whether these menopausal-like symptoms after menopause will affect the adverse reactions (mortality risk) following vaccination.
Additionally, I received my Decapeptyl injection on October 5, which marks three months, and I will start Letrozole on October 6.
Can I get vaccinated during this period? Should I stop taking Letrozole beforehand? Thank you.

Hello, based on your description of symptoms, they should not affect the administration of the vaccine.
It is still recommended to follow the announced precautions for vaccination and discuss any related risks with your treating physician and cardiologist.
Thank you! Wishing you safety and health.

After undergoing surgery for endometriosis, specifically the removal of a chocolate cyst, and starting hormonal treatments such as long-acting Daphaline and later, a medication like Letrozole (which I assume is what you meant by "異味寧"), it is understandable to have concerns about vaccination, particularly with the BNT vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine).

Firstly, it is generally safe for individuals who have undergone surgery for endometriosis or are receiving hormonal treatments to get vaccinated. The vaccines currently available, including the BNT vaccine, have been shown to be effective and safe for a wide range of individuals, including those with underlying health conditions. The hormonal treatments you are undergoing, such as Daphaline, which is a GnRH agonist, can cause side effects like hot flashes and palpitations, which are similar to menopausal symptoms. However, these symptoms do not contraindicate vaccination.
Regarding your specific concerns about the potential for increased adverse reactions to the vaccine due to your hormonal treatment, it is important to note that the side effects of vaccines are typically mild and transient, including soreness at the injection site, fatigue, and mild fever. Serious adverse reactions are rare. The presence of menopausal-like symptoms should not significantly increase the risk of severe vaccine-related side effects or mortality.
As for the timing of your vaccination, it is advisable to consult with your healthcare provider. Generally, there is no need to pause your hormonal treatment before receiving the vaccine. Vaccination can be administered while you are on Daphaline or Letrozole. However, your healthcare provider may have specific recommendations based on your overall health status and treatment plan.

In summary, you can proceed with vaccination while on your current hormonal treatments. It is always best to discuss your specific situation with your healthcare provider, who can provide personalized advice based on your medical history and current treatment regimen. They can also monitor any potential side effects and ensure that your vaccination is part of a comprehensive approach to your health following surgery for endometriosis.
In addition, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular exercise, can help support your recovery and overall well-being during this time. If you have any further concerns or experience unusual symptoms after vaccination, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for guidance. Your health and safety are paramount, and they can help navigate any complexities related to your treatment and vaccination.
