Post-operative issues after circumcision?
I underwent circumcision surgery on March 31.
Three days post-operation, during a follow-up visit, the doctor mentioned that my circumcision wasn't tight enough, resulting in swelling on the left side of my penis.
Now, two weeks later, I've noticed that the pain is due to the curvature of my penis, which is causing nerve numbness and pain.
Any contact with my underwear triggers this numbness and pain.
Last night, I tried to adjust it to a more straight position (slightly to the left), and about ten minutes later, I experienced numbness from my left thigh down to my foot.
Is this normal? When will the numbness and pain in my penis improve? I am currently relying on painkillers for relief.
I would greatly appreciate your help in answering these questions! Thank you!

Hello: The foreskin gun should not cause such sensations.
It is better to consult the surgeon during your follow-up appointment.
Wishing you good health.

Post-circumcision complications can be concerning, especially when pain and discomfort persist beyond the initial recovery period. Based on your description, it seems that you are experiencing significant discomfort and pain following your circumcision procedure, which was performed on March 31. Here’s a comprehensive understanding of your situation and some insights into what you might expect moving forward.
Firstly, it is not uncommon to experience some swelling and discomfort after circumcision. The swelling you mentioned, particularly on the left side of the penis, can occur due to various reasons, including the surgical technique used, the tightness of the bandage applied post-surgery, or even the body's natural inflammatory response to the surgery. The fact that your doctor noted that the circumcision was not tight enough could also contribute to the swelling and subsequent discomfort.
The pain you are experiencing, which seems to be associated with the angle or position of your penis, could be related to the healing process. After circumcision, the skin and tissues undergo significant changes as they heal. If the skin is healing in a way that causes the penis to curve or tilt, this could lead to tension in the surrounding tissues, resulting in pain or numbness. The sensation of numbness radiating down to your thigh and foot could indicate nerve involvement, possibly due to swelling or pressure on nearby nerves.
It is important to monitor your symptoms closely. If the pain and numbness persist or worsen, it is advisable to seek further evaluation from your healthcare provider. They may consider conducting a physical examination to assess the alignment and healing of the circumcision site. In some cases, imaging studies may be warranted to rule out any underlying issues, such as nerve compression or other complications.
In terms of pain management, relying on over-the-counter pain medications can be helpful, but it is crucial to use them as directed and not to exceed the recommended dosages. If your pain is severe and not adequately controlled by these medications, you should discuss this with your doctor, who may prescribe stronger pain relief options or recommend other interventions.
As for the timeline for recovery, it varies from person to person. Generally, most patients experience a significant reduction in pain and discomfort within a few weeks post-surgery. However, complete healing can take several weeks to months, depending on individual factors such as overall health, adherence to post-operative care instructions, and the body's healing response.
In conclusion, while some discomfort and swelling are normal after circumcision, persistent pain, especially accompanied by numbness, should not be ignored. It is essential to maintain open communication with your healthcare provider regarding your symptoms and any changes you notice. They can provide tailored advice and treatment options to help alleviate your discomfort and ensure proper healing. If you have any concerns about your recovery or experience new symptoms, do not hesitate to seek medical attention promptly.
