The glans is exposed and cannot be quickly retracted?
Hello Dr.
Liu, recently when I have intercourse with my partner, the glans of my penis tends to extend beyond the foreskin and remains exposed.
It takes a day or two for it to fully retract back under the foreskin.
Due to the exposure of the glans, any contact with clothing causes discomfort.
In the past, during sexual activity, the glans never protruded.
Is this a normal phenomenon? Additionally, I would like to ask if it is common for adult males to have their glans exposed.
I have not undergone circumcision, maintain a disciplined private life, and all bodily functions are normal.
Thank you for your guidance.

Don't worry! It could be caused by mild phimosis.
Consult a urologist for an examination!

Understanding glans exposure in uncircumcised men is an important topic that touches on both anatomical and physiological aspects of male genitalia. The glans penis, or the head of the penis, is typically covered by the foreskin (prepuce) in uncircumcised men. It is normal for the glans to be exposed during certain activities, such as sexual arousal or during erections. However, the experience you described, where the glans remains exposed for a prolonged period after sexual activity, can raise some questions.
In general, for uncircumcised men, the foreskin is designed to retract during an erection, allowing for exposure of the glans. After sexual activity, the foreskin should ideally return to its normal position covering the glans. If you find that your glans remains exposed for an extended period, it may be due to several factors, including the elasticity of the foreskin, the level of arousal, or even the position during sexual activity.
It is also important to note that while it is common for the glans to be exposed during sexual arousal, it should not cause discomfort or pain. If you are experiencing discomfort when the glans is exposed, it could be due to friction against clothing or other surfaces, which can lead to irritation. This is particularly relevant if the glans is not accustomed to being exposed frequently, as the skin can be sensitive.
Regarding your question about whether all adult men have their glans exposed, the answer is that it varies among individuals. Uncircumcised men may have different experiences based on the size and elasticity of their foreskin. Some men may have a foreskin that retracts easily, while others may have a tighter foreskin that does not retract as readily.
If you are concerned about the exposure of your glans or if you experience pain, discomfort, or any unusual symptoms, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional. They can provide a thorough examination and determine if there are any underlying issues that need to be addressed.
In summary, while it is normal for the glans to be exposed during certain situations, prolonged exposure after sexual activity should not typically occur. If it does, and especially if it is accompanied by discomfort, it may be worth seeking medical advice. Understanding your body and its responses is crucial, and a healthcare provider can offer guidance tailored to your specific situation.
