Pain in the right lower back during ejaculation?

Doctor, I experience pain in my right lower back during ejaculation, but it goes away afterward.
This started when I was nearly 30 years old, and it feels different from the tingling sensation I used to have after ejaculation.
I consulted a doctor, and the diagnosis was bladder neuro-muscular dysfunction.
Additionally, I have type 2 diabetes.

Experiencing right side lower back pain during ejaculation can be concerning, especially if this is a new symptom for you. Given your age and the underlying condition of type 2 diabetes, it’s essential to consider several factors that could contribute to this pain.

Firstly, the pain you describe may be related to the pelvic floor muscles and their function. The pelvic floor consists of a group of muscles that support the bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs. During ejaculation, these muscles contract, and if there is any tension or dysfunction in these muscles, it could lead to discomfort or pain in the lower back area. This is particularly relevant if you have been diagnosed with bladder nerve and muscle dysfunction, as this condition can affect how these muscles respond during ejaculation.

Additionally, the relationship between the lower back and the pelvic region is significant. The lumbar spine (lower back) is closely connected to the pelvic floor. If there is any strain or tension in the lower back muscles, it can manifest as pain during activities that involve pelvic contractions, such as ejaculation. This could be exacerbated by factors such as poor posture, lack of physical activity, or even stress, which can lead to muscle tension.

Moreover, diabetes can contribute to various complications, including neuropathy, which is nerve damage that can lead to pain or discomfort in different areas of the body. If your diabetes is not well-controlled, it could potentially affect the nerves that innervate the pelvic region, leading to unusual sensations or pain during sexual activity.

It’s also worth considering the possibility of a hernia or other structural issues in the lower abdomen or pelvis. While these conditions may not always present with obvious symptoms, they can cause discomfort during activities that increase intra-abdominal pressure, such as ejaculation.

Given that this is a new symptom for you, it’s crucial to follow up with your healthcare provider. They may recommend imaging studies, such as an MRI or CT scan, to rule out any structural abnormalities. Additionally, a referral to a urologist or a pelvic floor specialist may be beneficial. These specialists can provide targeted assessments and treatments, including physical therapy focused on the pelvic floor, which may help alleviate your symptoms.

In the meantime, consider practicing relaxation techniques and gentle stretching exercises to relieve any tension in your lower back and pelvic area. Staying physically active, maintaining a healthy weight, and managing your diabetes effectively are also essential steps in reducing the risk of complications and improving your overall health.

In summary, the right side lower back pain during ejaculation could be attributed to pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, tension in the lower back, or complications related to diabetes. It’s important to seek further evaluation to determine the underlying cause and appropriate treatment options. Your health and comfort are paramount, and addressing these symptoms early can lead to better outcomes.
