Is it possible to be pregnant?

Hello, doctor.
My last menstrual period was from July 3 to July 31, and it usually lasts for seven days.
My cycle is irregular, averaging about 31 days.
The app indicated that the fertile window was from July 15 to July 21, with July 20 being the estimated ovulation day.
I had sexual intercourse on July 8, July 12, July 25, and July 27, always using a condom, and I withdrew before ejaculation.
The condom did not break.
Since July 28, I have been experiencing breast tenderness.
On August 1, I noticed a small amount of brown discharge, which stopped afterward (I also had a bit of brown discharge on July 2, and my period started the next day).
On August 2, I observed a light yellow, lotion-like discharge that was slightly sticky.
I would like to ask the doctor if there is a possibility of pregnancy.
I'm feeling a bit anxious as the estimated date for my next period is approaching.

Xiao Hua, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2022/08/03

Hello, the chances of pregnancy should be low.
Let's wait for another week, and if your period still hasn't arrived, you can take a pregnancy test.
Wishing you good health.

Dear Patient,
Thank you for reaching out with your concerns regarding the possibility of pregnancy. Understanding your menstrual cycle and the symptoms you are experiencing can indeed help clarify your situation.

Based on the information you've provided, your menstrual cycle averages around 31 days, with your last period starting on July 3 and lasting until July 31. You mentioned that your app indicated a fertile window from July 15 to July 21, with July 20 being your estimated ovulation day. Engaging in sexual intercourse on July 8, July 12, July 25, and July 27, while using condoms, significantly reduces the likelihood of pregnancy, especially if the condoms did not break.

The symptoms you are experiencing, such as breast tenderness and changes in vaginal discharge, can be indicative of hormonal fluctuations that occur during your menstrual cycle. Breast tenderness is common in the luteal phase (the time between ovulation and the start of your period) due to increased levels of progesterone. The brown discharge you observed on August 1 could be related to the end of your menstrual cycle or the onset of your next period, as it is not uncommon for women to experience spotting before their period.

The yellowish, creamy discharge you described on August 2 could also be a normal variation in cervical mucus, which can change in consistency and color throughout your cycle. This type of discharge is often associated with hormonal changes and does not necessarily indicate pregnancy.

To determine if you are pregnant, the most reliable method is to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are designed to detect the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. For the most accurate results, it is recommended to take the test after your missed period, as this allows enough time for hCG levels to rise if you are indeed pregnant.

If you find that your period is late, or if you continue to experience unusual symptoms, it would be prudent to consult with a healthcare provider. They can offer further evaluation, including a blood test, which can detect pregnancy earlier than a home test.

In summary, while your symptoms could suggest a variety of hormonal changes, the use of condoms during intercourse significantly lowers the risk of pregnancy. However, if you are feeling anxious about the possibility, taking a pregnancy test after your expected period date will provide you with clarity. Remember, it's always best to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice and support.

Wishing you the best of health and peace of mind.

Sincerely,
