Is CCA Supplement the Key to Height Growth in Teens? - Pharmacology

Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)

A few days ago, I heard on the radio that Meiji Company is collaborating with Yuchuan Biotechnology (the spelling might be incorrect).
They mentioned that Japan currently has the highest average height among Asians and that they have developed CCA through years of research.
This is related to calcium and can help with growth.
They claim that it is 100% effective for individuals under the age of 18.
By taking their biotechnologically developed "Lactotitan Growth Factor," it can supposedly guarantee height increase for adolescents who are not growing tall.
Is this true? They also mentioned that it is imported from Japan and that it will be launched by the end of the year, having passed certain standards, although I'm not clear on what those standards are.
I want to confirm if this is true.

When it comes to height growth in teenagers, there are many factors to consider, including genetics, nutrition, physical activity, and hormonal changes during puberty. The idea that a specific supplement, such as CCA (Calcium, Collagen, and Amino Acids), can guarantee height growth is a common claim in the health and wellness industry, but it is essential to approach such claims with caution and a critical mindset.

Firstly, it is important to understand that height is primarily determined by genetics. The height of parents can give a rough estimate of a child's potential height, but it is not the only factor. Environmental influences, including nutrition and physical activity, play a significant role in a child's growth. During puberty, which typically occurs between ages 10 and 14 for girls and 12 and 16 for boys, there is a growth spurt where individuals can grow significantly taller in a short period. This growth is largely influenced by the presence of growth hormones and the health of the growth plates in the bones.

The growth plates, or epiphyseal plates, are areas of developing cartilage tissue near the ends of long bones. These plates are responsible for the lengthening of bones during childhood and adolescence. Once these plates close, which typically occurs in late adolescence, further height increase is unlikely. Therefore, the timing of growth plate closure is crucial in determining whether a teenager can still grow taller.

Regarding the specific claims about CCA supplements, while calcium is indeed essential for bone health and growth, it is not a magic solution for increasing height. Adequate calcium intake, along with other vital nutrients such as vitamin D, protein, and minerals like zinc and magnesium, is necessary for optimal bone development. However, simply taking a supplement does not guarantee that a teenager will grow taller, especially if their growth plates are already closing.

Moreover, the assertion that a supplement can provide a "100% guarantee" for height growth is misleading. No supplement can alter genetic predispositions or the natural growth process. While some studies suggest that certain nutrients can support growth, the results can vary widely among individuals. It is also important to note that excessive intake of supplements can lead to adverse effects, and it is always best to obtain nutrients from a balanced diet.

Physical activity is another critical component of growth. Engaging in regular exercise, particularly activities that promote stretching and strengthening, such as swimming, basketball, or yoga, can support overall health and potentially aid in maximizing height during the growth period. Additionally, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including adequate sleep and stress management, is vital for growth and development.

In conclusion, while CCA supplements may contain beneficial nutrients for bone health, they should not be viewed as a guaranteed solution for height growth. The best approach for teenagers seeking to maximize their growth potential is to focus on a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients, engage in regular physical activity, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. If there are concerns about growth or development, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare professional who can provide personalized guidance based on individual health needs and circumstances.
