Will there be a record of the vaginal ultrasound on the health insurance card?
Hello, doctor.
The last day of my menstrual period was on October 16, and it has been two months since then without a period, as I have usually been quite regular.
During this time, I had sexual intercourse on November 20 and November 26.
I took pregnancy tests on November 25, December 1, December 13, and December 14, all of which were negative.
Today, I went to the gynecologist and was found to have polycystic ovaries.
I would like to ask, if it has been more than two weeks since intercourse and both the pregnancy tests and abdominal and vaginal ultrasounds show no signs of pregnancy (though the doctor mentioned that the endometrium is quite thick), can I confirm that I am not pregnant? Additionally, I would like to know if vaginal ultrasounds are recorded on the health insurance card.
I am not keen on letting my family know about my sexual activity, but my mother happens to know a gynecologist.

When it comes to understanding the implications of your recent health concerns, particularly regarding your menstrual cycle and the results of your vaginal ultrasound, it's important to clarify a few key points.
Firstly, based on your description, you have not had a menstrual period since October 16, which is unusual for you given your previous regularity. You mentioned having sexual intercourse on several occasions and conducting multiple pregnancy tests, all of which returned negative results. Additionally, your recent visit to a gynecologist revealed the presence of polycystic ovaries (PCOS), which can often lead to irregular menstrual cycles and may explain the absence of your period.
Regarding your question about confirming whether you are pregnant: If you have taken pregnancy tests more than two weeks after your last sexual encounter and they have all been negative, combined with the ultrasound findings, it is reasonable to conclude that you are not pregnant. The ultrasound can provide additional insights, such as the thickness of the endometrial lining, which can be influenced by hormonal factors and conditions like PCOS. A thickened endometrial lining can occur in the absence of pregnancy, particularly in cases of hormonal imbalance.
Now, concerning the records of your vaginal ultrasound and whether they will appear on your health insurance card: In the United States, medical records, including ultrasound results, are typically maintained by the healthcare provider and may not be directly accessible through your health insurance card. However, insurance claims for the ultrasound procedure will be submitted to your insurance provider, and this may be reflected in your insurance statements. It's important to note that healthcare providers are required to maintain patient confidentiality, so your medical records should not be disclosed to family members without your consent.
If you are concerned about privacy, it may be beneficial to discuss your worries with your healthcare provider. They can provide guidance on how your information is handled and what measures are in place to protect your privacy. Additionally, if you are uncomfortable with your mother knowing about your sexual activity, you might consider seeking care from a different provider or clinic where you feel more secure about your confidentiality.
In summary, based on the information provided, it seems unlikely that you are pregnant given the negative tests and ultrasound findings. However, if your menstrual irregularities persist or if you have further concerns about your reproductive health, it would be wise to follow up with your healthcare provider for additional evaluation and management options. Always remember that your health and well-being are paramount, and open communication with your healthcare provider can help address any lingering concerns you may have.
