Self-induced vomiting after eating?
I have three questions: 1.
I took one "Yueji" at 11:00 PM on December 29, then had a late-night snack and felt very full.
I woke up at 5:00 AM and vomited, with food remnants coming up.
It has been over 6 hours; do I need to take another pill? Can I just take one at 11:00 PM tonight as usual? 2.
I switched from "Yuezi" to "Yueji," and this is my second box of "Yueji." When I first switched to "Yueji," the pharmacist told me to start taking the first pill on the fifth day of my menstrual cycle and advised me to always start on the fifth day in the future.
However, I calculated that if I follow the pharmacist's instructions, I would have an 8-9 day break from the medication.
Therefore, after finishing the first box of 21 pills, I adjusted my schedule for the second box to take 21 pills, then have a 7-day break, and start again on the eighth day.
Is it acceptable if I continue this pattern of taking 21 pills, having a 7-day break, and then starting again on the eighth day? 3.
During the 7-day break after finishing 21 pills, is there still contraceptive effectiveness? Do I need to use additional contraceptive measures? Thank you.

When it comes to understanding the effects of Yejiyi (Yasmin) on vomiting, dosage, and contraceptive efficacy, it's essential to address each of your questions with clarity and medical insight.
1. Vomiting After Taking Yejiyi: You mentioned that you took a Yasmin pill at 11 PM and then vomited at 5 AM after a heavy meal. Generally, if vomiting occurs within 3 hours of taking a combined oral contraceptive pill, there is a risk that the pill may not have been fully absorbed, and you should take another pill as soon as possible. However, since you vomited after 6 hours, the pill would likely have been absorbed by that time, and you do not need to take an additional dose. You can continue with your regular schedule and take your next pill at 11 PM as planned.
2. Switching from Yejiyi to Yejiyi: When switching from one oral contraceptive to another, it is typically recommended to start the new pill at the beginning of your next cycle or on a specific day as advised by your healthcare provider. In your case, the pharmacist suggested starting the new pill on the fifth day of your menstrual cycle. However, if you have already started taking the second box of Yasmin after completing the first box, it is crucial to maintain consistency in your regimen. Taking 21 pills followed by a 7-day break is a standard approach, and as long as you take the pills consistently and correctly, this method should be effective. It is important to note that any deviation from the prescribed method should be discussed with your healthcare provider to ensure that you maintain contraceptive efficacy.
3. Contraceptive Efficacy During the 7-Day Break: The 7-day break after taking 21 pills is designed to allow for a withdrawal bleed, similar to a menstrual period. During this break, if you have taken the pills correctly and consistently (i.e., without missing any doses), you should still have contraceptive protection. The hormonal levels from the previous pills remain effective, which means you do not need additional contraceptive measures during this time. However, if you miss any pills or do not take them as directed, you may need to use backup contraception, such as condoms, until you have taken the new pack for 7 consecutive days.
In summary, you should not need to take an extra pill after vomiting if it occurred more than 3 hours after taking Yasmin. You can continue with your regular schedule. Switching from one contraceptive to another should be done with care, and maintaining a consistent regimen is key to ensuring efficacy. Lastly, you will remain protected during the 7-day break if you have taken your pills correctly. Always consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice and to address any concerns regarding your contraceptive method.
