Urinary secretion?
Hello Doctor: I have noticed that after urinating, when I sit down, a little urine drips out, and then there is a wet spot on my underwear along with some white powdery substances.
However, I have also observed that if I wait a longer time before going to the bathroom, these white substances disappear.
I am asking this because I check for nocturnal emissions every morning, and I am quite sure there are none, yet I still see these white powdery substances when I urinate.
Is this a secretion exclusive to males? If I do not change my underwear, could it cause someone to become pregnant? Thank you.

Hello: If testing is necessary, it's important to note that even in the case of nocturnal emissions, the likelihood of causing pregnancy is quite low.
Wishing you good health.

When it comes to urinary health, many men experience concerns related to post-urination dribbling and the presence of white residue in their underwear. These issues can be both confusing and concerning, so it’s important to understand what they might indicate and how to address them.
Firstly, the phenomenon of dribbling after urination is relatively common among men. This can occur due to a variety of reasons, including the anatomy of the male urinary tract, which can sometimes lead to residual urine remaining in the urethra after urination. This residual urine can then leak out when you sit down or move, leading to the sensation of dripping. It’s often exacerbated by factors such as the position of the body during urination, the strength of the urinary stream, and even the state of the pelvic floor muscles. Strengthening these muscles through pelvic floor exercises (often referred to as Kegel exercises) can help reduce this dribbling.
Now, regarding the white powdery residue you’ve noticed, this could be a combination of several factors. In many cases, it may be related to normal bodily secretions, such as smegma, which is a combination of dead skin cells, oils, and other bodily fluids that can accumulate under the foreskin in uncircumcised men. If you have already retracted your foreskin, this residue can still occur due to the natural secretions of the body. It’s important to maintain good hygiene by cleaning the area regularly to prevent any buildup that could lead to irritation or infection.
As for your concern about whether this white residue could lead to pregnancy if you don’t change your underwear, it’s important to clarify that the presence of this residue alone is not a means of causing pregnancy. Pregnancy occurs when sperm fertilizes an egg, and while the residue may contain some sperm if it is from a recent ejaculation, the likelihood of it being viable enough to cause pregnancy outside of direct sexual contact is extremely low. However, maintaining good hygiene is crucial not only for personal health but also to prevent any potential transmission of infections.
If you are experiencing these symptoms frequently or if they are accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, burning during urination, or changes in urinary frequency, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional. They can perform a thorough examination and possibly run tests to rule out any underlying conditions such as infections, prostatitis, or other urinary tract issues.
In summary, while post-urination dribbling and the presence of white residue can be concerning, they are often manageable with proper hygiene and awareness of your body. If symptoms persist or worsen, seeking medical advice is always the best course of action to ensure your urinary health is maintained.
