Numbness in the inner thigh before ejaculation?

In the past, when I was younger, I would experience a tingling sensation in the inner thighs of both legs when I self-relieved.
Recently, I have noticed that only the inner thigh of my right leg has this tingling sensation, while the left leg does not feel anything.
Is this normal? What causes this tingling sensation? Will it affect fertility?

Hello: Most of it is caused by nerves, and such symptoms do not affect sperm quality.
Wishing you good health.

More Info

Inner thigh numbness, particularly when it occurs before ejaculation, can be concerning and may have several underlying causes. The sensation of numbness or tingling, often described as "paresthesia," can arise from various factors, including nerve compression, vascular issues, or even psychological factors.

Possible Causes of Inner Thigh Numbness
1. Nerve Compression or Irritation: The most common cause of numbness in the inner thigh is compression or irritation of the nerves that supply sensation to that area. This can occur due to prolonged sitting, certain positions during sexual activity, or even tight clothing. The femoral nerve, which runs down the thigh, can be particularly susceptible to compression.

2. Herniated Discs: A herniated disc in the lumbar spine can lead to nerve root compression, resulting in numbness or tingling that radiates down the leg. If the herniation affects the nerves that innervate the inner thigh, this could explain the symptoms.

3. Vascular Issues: Reduced blood flow to the thigh due to vascular problems can also cause numbness. Conditions such as peripheral artery disease (PAD) can lead to symptoms of numbness, especially during physical activity.

4. Diabetes: Diabetic neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes that can lead to nerve damage and result in numbness or tingling in various parts of the body, including the thighs.

5. Multiple Sclerosis (MS): Although less common, MS can cause numbness and tingling in various body parts due to demyelination of nerves.

6. Psychological Factors: Anxiety and panic attacks can sometimes manifest physically, leading to sensations of numbness or tingling in various body parts, including the thighs.

Concerns Regarding Fertility
In terms of fertility, numbness in the inner thigh is generally not directly linked to reproductive health. However, if the numbness is due to an underlying condition that affects nerve function or blood flow, it could potentially have indirect effects on sexual function or performance, which may impact fertility. For instance, if the numbness is associated with pain or discomfort during sexual activity, it could lead to reduced sexual activity or anxiety surrounding sexual performance.

When to Seek Medical Attention
If the numbness persists, worsens, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as weakness, pain, or changes in bowel or bladder function, it is crucial to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a thorough evaluation, which may include a physical examination, imaging studies (like MRI), or nerve conduction studies to determine the underlying cause of the symptoms.

Conclusion
While occasional numbness in the inner thigh may not be a cause for alarm, especially if it resolves quickly and is not associated with other concerning symptoms, persistent or worsening symptoms warrant further investigation. Understanding the underlying cause is essential for appropriate management and to rule out any serious conditions. If you have concerns about how this may affect your fertility or sexual health, discussing these issues with a healthcare provider can provide clarity and reassurance.
