Abnormal bleeding one week before menstruation?
I have been taking emergency contraception daily.
On April 19, I had sexual intercourse, and on the morning of April 21, I noticed light pink discharge (unsure if it was menstrual blood).
That afternoon, the discharge turned brown, and by April 22, it was gone.
On April 23, I suddenly had discharge again, this time light purple mixed with some leukorrhea.
On the morning of April 24, I also had a flow that was deep red, similar to menstrual blood, but not much.
What could be the reason for this? I do not have any abdominal pain.

If there is no improvement after taking the medication, it is recommended to consult a gynecologist.
Wishing you good health.

Abnormal bleeding before menstruation can be concerning and may arise from various causes. Given your situation, where you are taking a contraceptive pill (悦己事前) and have experienced unusual discharge colors and patterns, it is essential to consider several factors that could contribute to these symptoms.
Firstly, hormonal fluctuations are a common cause of abnormal bleeding. Birth control pills work by regulating hormones, but they can also lead to breakthrough bleeding, especially during the first few months of use or if pills are missed. Breakthrough bleeding can manifest as light spotting or discharge that may vary in color, including pink, brown, or even red. The timing of your sexual activity and the subsequent changes in discharge could indicate that your body is adjusting to the hormonal influences of the contraceptive pill.
Secondly, the presence of different colors in your discharge—such as light pink, brown, and deep red—can be attributed to the age of the blood. Fresh blood is typically bright red, while older blood may appear brown or dark red, indicating that it has taken longer to exit the body. The light purple discharge you mentioned could be a mix of cervical mucus and blood, which is not uncommon.
Another consideration is the possibility of ovulation bleeding. Some women experience light spotting around the time of ovulation, which can occur approximately two weeks before the expected period. This spotting is usually light and may be accompanied by changes in cervical mucus.
In addition to hormonal factors and ovulation, other medical conditions could cause abnormal bleeding. Conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), fibroids, or endometriosis can lead to irregular bleeding patterns. However, since you mentioned that you are not experiencing abdominal pain, these conditions may be less likely, but they should still be considered if the abnormal bleeding persists.
Stress and lifestyle factors can also play a role in menstrual irregularities. High levels of stress, significant weight changes, or changes in exercise routines can impact your menstrual cycle and lead to unexpected bleeding.
Given that you are not experiencing abdominal pain and the bleeding appears to be light, it may not be an immediate cause for concern. However, it is essential to monitor your symptoms closely. If the abnormal bleeding continues, becomes heavier, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, significant changes in your menstrual cycle, or any other unusual symptoms, it would be advisable to consult a healthcare professional. They can perform a thorough evaluation, which may include a physical examination, blood tests, or imaging studies, to rule out any underlying conditions.
In summary, abnormal bleeding before menstruation can result from hormonal changes, ovulation, or other medical conditions. Since you are on birth control, it is likely that your body is adjusting to the hormones, leading to these changes. However, if the symptoms persist or worsen, seeking medical advice is crucial for proper diagnosis and management.
