There is an unknown protrusion on the penis?
There is a protrusion on the penis that is elongated in shape.
I'm not sure if it is a blood vessel, but it is not green.
It becomes more noticeable during an erection, and when pressed, it feels like there is a lump, causing discomfort.
So, could this possibly be a snake? Additionally, I suspect that I have varicocele on the left side.
What symptoms should I expect?
TRBO, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2005/07/12

TRBO: Hello, what is the elongated protrusion on your penis? Based on your description, it could possibly be a blood vessel or lymphatic vessel.
A simple way to differentiate is to compress the protrusion and then release it to see if there is any blood flow returning.
A varicocele may present as a worm-like structure on the testicle, twisted and smooth.
According to the description in the book: check for "worms" in the bag yourself, but if you're still concerned, it’s best to seek medical attention.

When it comes to unexplained bumps on the penis, there are several potential causes that should be considered. The description you provided indicates a long, raised area that becomes more pronounced during an erection and is associated with discomfort upon pressure. While it is understandable to be concerned about such symptoms, it is important to approach the situation with a clear understanding of possible conditions.
One common cause of bumps or raised areas on the penis is the presence of a condition known as penile papules, which are small, benign growths that can appear on the shaft or around the glans (the head) of the penis. These are typically harmless and do not require treatment unless they cause discomfort or concern. Another possibility is the development of a cyst, which can occur in various parts of the body, including the genital area. Cysts are usually filled with fluid or semi-solid material and can sometimes become inflamed or infected, leading to discomfort.
In some cases, the bumps may be related to a condition called Peyronie's disease, which is characterized by the formation of fibrous scar tissue inside the penis, causing curved, painful erections. This condition can lead to the development of lumps or bumps along the shaft of the penis. If the bump you are experiencing is firm and associated with pain, it may warrant further investigation.
Regarding your concern about varicocele, which is an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum, it typically presents as a "bag of worms" feeling in the scrotum rather than a bump on the penis itself. Symptoms of varicocele can include discomfort, especially after prolonged standing or physical activity, and can sometimes affect fertility. If you suspect you have a varicocele, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional for a proper evaluation.
It is crucial to avoid self-diagnosis based on symptoms alone, as many conditions can present similarly. The best course of action is to schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider, preferably a urologist, who can perform a physical examination and possibly recommend imaging studies or other diagnostic tests to determine the nature of the bump. They can also provide guidance on treatment options if necessary.
In summary, while there are several potential causes for the bump you are experiencing on the penis, including benign conditions like penile papules or cysts, it is essential to seek professional medical advice for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Early evaluation can help alleviate concerns and ensure that any underlying issues are addressed promptly. Remember, it is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to your health.
