Injury to the glans penis?

Yesterday, I used body wash as lubrication and rubbed against a towel while masturbating.
As a result, I’m not sure if it was the body wash that was too irritating or if I rubbed too hard, but today the glans is red and painful to touch.
Is this an injury or inflammation? I applied a bit of Clindamycin; would using an eye ointment be better? If I don’t apply anything, will it heal on its own? Please advise, thank you.

Dr. Xu Weikai reply Urology

Wlalla: Hello, generally there is no need to be overly anxious; it will naturally heal in about three days.
Remember, do not use soap as it may increase irritation, and it is not recommended to use body wash to clean this area while showering.
You can use antibiotic eye ointment to prevent infection.

When it comes to head injuries, understanding the symptoms and appropriate treatment is crucial for ensuring proper recovery and preventing complications. Your question, however, seems to relate more to a urethral issue following a different type of injury, specifically involving irritation of the glans penis after using a body wash as a lubricant during masturbation.
First, let's clarify the symptoms you are experiencing. The redness and pain upon contact with the glans penis suggest that you may be dealing with either a mild irritation or an inflammatory response. This could be due to several factors, including the use of a potentially irritating substance (like body wash), excessive friction during the act, or even an allergic reaction to the ingredients in the body wash.
In terms of treatment, applying a topical antibiotic ointment like Neosporin (which contains bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin B) can help prevent infection if there are any micro-abrasions on the skin. However, using an eye ointment is not advisable, as it is formulated for a different purpose and may not be suitable for application on sensitive areas of the body.
If you choose not to apply any ointment, the area may still heal on its own, provided there is no ongoing irritation or infection. It is essential to keep the area clean and avoid any further irritation, which means refraining from using any harsh soaps or engaging in activities that may exacerbate the condition until it heals.
If the symptoms persist for more than a few days, worsen, or if you notice any signs of infection such as increased redness, swelling, discharge, or fever, it is crucial to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can assess the area more thoroughly and may prescribe a more suitable treatment if necessary.

In summary, while your question primarily concerns a urethral issue, it is essential to recognize the importance of proper care following any form of injury, whether it be to the head or another sensitive area of the body. Always prioritize cleanliness, avoid irritants, and consult a healthcare professional if you have any concerns about your symptoms.
