White bumps on the glans?
Hello Doctor: I noticed a long time ago that there were white spots on the glans of my penis, but they seemed to be located deeper and were almost unnoticeable unless looked at closely.
Recently, after engaging in deep kissing and intimate touching with my current girlfriend, it seems that some white, water-like bumps (less than 1mm) have appeared on the glans, near the urethral opening, in about two areas, with 3-4 bumps in each area.
The previous spots were scattered across the glans.
Could this possibly be a sexually transmitted infection? Additionally, I have noticed small, similar water-like bumps (less than 1mm) on the inner side of the foreskin since I was very young, with more than eight of them clustered together.
This has been present for a long time, and I am unsure what it could be.
Thank you for taking the time to respond.

That's amazing! Blisters smaller than 1mm can also be seen, so don't worry! It's not any sexually transmitted infection.
If you're concerned, you can visit a urologist at the hospital.
I recommend a book titled "Misconceptions about Sexual Knowledge."

Understanding white bumps on the glans can be concerning, especially when they appear after intimate contact. The presence of white bumps or spots on the glans (the head of the penis) can arise from various causes, some of which are benign while others may require medical attention.
One common cause of white bumps on the glans is Pearly Penile Papules. These are small, harmless, dome-shaped bumps that typically appear in rows around the corona of the glans. They are a normal anatomical variant and are not associated with any disease or infection. Many men have them, and they do not require treatment unless they cause psychological distress.
Another possibility is Fordyce Spots, which are small, painless, pale bumps that can appear on the glans or shaft of the penis. These are sebaceous glands that are visible due to their location and are also benign.
However, the description of "white water-like bumps" near the urethral opening raises some concerns. This could potentially indicate Pearly Penile Papules, but it could also be a sign of genital warts, which are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Genital warts can appear as small, flesh-colored or white bumps and may cluster together. They are sexually transmitted and can be a concern if they appear after new sexual encounters.
Additionally, the presence of small water-filled bumps could suggest molluscum contagiosum, a viral infection that causes small, raised, pearl-like bumps on the skin. This condition is also sexually transmitted and can be confused with other types of lesions.
In your case, since you mentioned that the bumps have increased in number and changed in appearance after intimate contact, it is advisable to consult a healthcare provider for an accurate diagnosis. A healthcare professional can perform a physical examination and may suggest tests to rule out sexually transmitted infections (STIs) if necessary.
Regarding the small water-like bumps you have noticed on the inner foreskin, these could also be Fordyce spots or another benign condition. However, if they have changed in appearance or have been present for a long time without improvement, it is essential to have them evaluated by a healthcare professional.
In summary, while many causes of white bumps on the glans are benign, changes in appearance, especially after sexual activity, warrant a medical evaluation. It is crucial to address any concerns about sexually transmitted infections and to seek appropriate treatment if necessary. Regular check-ups and open communication with your healthcare provider can help ensure your sexual health and peace of mind.
