Redness and裂傷 of the foreskin?
Ten days ago, after oral sex with my girlfriend, I noticed some itching on the glans the next day.
Three days later, the foreskin became red and swollen with some itching.
For the past two days, urination has been painful.
I also noticed that the tip of the foreskin is not only red and swollen but also has cracks, and urination is painful.
Could you please tell me what these symptoms indicate? Is it just a common infection that can be treated with medication or topical ointments? Can oral sex lead to sexually transmitted infections?

Suspected balanitis, it is still necessary to visit a urology clinic for a physician to confirm the diagnosis.

The symptoms you are experiencing, including redness, itching, and cracking of the foreskin, along with pain during urination, could be indicative of several conditions, including a possible infection or inflammation. Given that these symptoms developed after oral sexual activity, it is essential to consider sexually transmitted infections (STIs) as a potential cause, although they are not the only possibility.
One common condition that could lead to these symptoms is balanitis, which is inflammation of the glans (the head of the penis) and can occur due to various factors, including infections (bacterial, fungal, or viral), irritants (such as soaps or lotions), or poor hygiene. The redness and itching you describe, along with the cracking of the foreskin, may suggest that the area is inflamed and possibly infected.
Another possibility is a sexually transmitted infection, such as herpes or gonorrhea, which can present with similar symptoms. Herpes, for instance, can cause painful sores and redness, while gonorrhea may lead to urethritis, resulting in painful urination. It is crucial to note that oral sex can transmit STIs, so it is essential to consider this in your evaluation.
The presence of cracks or fissures in the foreskin can also lead to secondary infections, as these openings can allow bacteria to enter. This could exacerbate the redness and discomfort you are experiencing. Additionally, if there is any discharge or unusual odor, this could further indicate an infection that requires medical attention.
In terms of treatment, it is essential to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis. They may perform a physical examination and possibly recommend tests to determine if an STI is present. Depending on the diagnosis, treatment may include topical antifungal or antibacterial creams, oral antibiotics, or antiviral medications if a viral infection is suspected.
In the meantime, here are some general recommendations to help manage your symptoms:
1. Maintain Hygiene: Keep the area clean and dry. Gently wash with mild soap and water, and avoid any harsh soaps or irritants that could worsen the inflammation.
2. Avoid Irritants: Refrain from using scented products or lotions in the genital area, as these can cause further irritation.
3. Wear Loose Clothing: Opt for loose-fitting underwear and pants to reduce friction and allow the area to breathe.
4. Avoid Sexual Activity: Until you have been evaluated by a healthcare provider, it is advisable to avoid any sexual activity to prevent further irritation and potential transmission of infections.
5. Pain Relief: Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, may help alleviate discomfort.
In summary, while your symptoms could be due to a simple infection or irritation, the possibility of an STI cannot be ruled out. It is crucial to seek medical attention promptly to receive an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Early intervention can prevent complications and promote faster healing.
