A bunch of symptoms that are driving me almost crazy?

Hello Doctor: I have the following symptoms: when I take a shower, as soon as I take off my clothes, my whole body itches.
After I finish showering and leave the bathroom, I still feel itchy.
Sometimes even the pubic area itches unbearably.
My scalp itches so much that I scratch it excessively.
When the itching starts, I feel a warmth, and after scratching, I develop raised red marks and small bumps.
This happens on my scalp as well.
The itching is difficult to relieve no matter how much I scratch.
My arms, thighs, and back are affected, almost my entire body.
My face also itches, but I dare not scratch; I only press with my nails, but then it feels like I've been bitten by mosquitoes, resulting in many red, swollen bumps, especially on my forehead and cheeks.
When I play Wii, my arms become red and unbearably itchy due to excessive movement.
While shopping at a large store, my thighs, calves, arms, and face suddenly become hot and itchy.
Doctor, these symptoms have persisted for almost two months, and they are particularly severe at night.
Now, I sometimes experience these symptoms during the day, and the frequency and duration are increasing.
This is very distressing for me.
What should I do? A friend told me this might be a liver function issue.
Should I go directly to a dermatologist or another clinic? If it’s an allergy, is it necessary to test for allergens? Is that essential? A friend of mine had a similar situation and after getting an injection, she didn’t itch for five days.
Does the injection really help? Thank you very much.

Hello: You may be suffering from urticaria, please see a dermatologist directly for a definitive diagnosis.
If it is urticaria, medication can help control it; blood tests are generally not helpful.
Injections provide only temporary relief and can only manage the acute phase.
If you have chronic urticaria, you may need to take medication for a long term.
Wishing you safety and smooth recovery.

Persistent itching can be a frustrating and distressing symptom that affects many individuals. Based on your description, it seems that you are experiencing widespread itching, particularly after bathing, and this is accompanied by redness and raised welts on your skin. This condition can be attributed to several potential causes, and understanding these can help guide you toward effective solutions.

Possible Causes of Persistent Itching
1. Dry Skin (Xerosis): One of the most common causes of itching, especially after bathing, is dry skin. Hot showers can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. This is particularly common in colder climates or during winter months when humidity levels drop.

2. Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis): Eczema is a chronic condition characterized by dry, itchy, and inflamed skin. It can be triggered by various factors, including environmental irritants, allergens, and stress. The fact that your symptoms worsen at night may suggest an underlying eczema flare-up.

3. Allergic Reactions: Allergies to certain substances, such as soaps, detergents, or even fabrics, can lead to localized or widespread itching. If you have recently changed any products you use on your skin or laundry, this could be a contributing factor.

4. Dermatographism: This is a form of physical urticaria where the skin reacts to pressure or scratching, leading to raised red welts. It can be exacerbated by stress or temperature changes.

5. Systemic Conditions: While less common, persistent itching can sometimes indicate underlying health issues, such as liver dysfunction or thyroid problems. However, these conditions typically present with other symptoms as well.

Solutions and Recommendations
1. Moisturizing: Regularly applying a good quality moisturizer can help combat dryness. Look for products that are fragrance-free and designed for sensitive skin. Apply moisturizer immediately after bathing to lock in moisture.

2. Gentle Bathing Practices: Consider reducing the frequency and duration of your baths or showers. Use lukewarm water instead of hot water, and limit the use of soap to areas that need it. Avoid harsh soaps and opt for gentle, hydrating cleansers.

3. Antihistamines: If your itching is due to an allergic reaction or histamine release, over-the-counter antihistamines may provide relief. These can help reduce itching and improve your comfort.

4. Topical Steroids: For localized inflammation and itching, topical corticosteroids can be effective. However, these should be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional to avoid potential side effects.

5. Identifying Triggers: Keeping a diary of your symptoms, including when they occur and any potential triggers (foods, activities, products), can help identify patterns and specific allergens.

6. Consulting a Dermatologist: Given the persistence and severity of your symptoms, it would be wise to consult a dermatologist. They can perform a thorough examination, potentially conduct allergy testing, and provide a tailored treatment plan.

7. Consider Allergy Testing: If allergies are suspected, allergy testing can help identify specific triggers. This information can be crucial in managing and avoiding allergens.

8. Injections: Your friend mentioned receiving an injection that alleviated their symptoms. This could refer to corticosteroid injections or other treatments for severe allergic reactions. However, this should be discussed with a healthcare provider to ensure it is appropriate for your situation.

Conclusion
Persistent itching can stem from various causes, ranging from dry skin to allergic reactions or even systemic conditions. It is essential to approach this issue comprehensively, considering both lifestyle modifications and medical interventions. Consulting with a healthcare professional, particularly a dermatologist, will provide you with the best path forward to alleviate your symptoms and improve your quality of life. Remember, self-diagnosis can be misleading, and professional guidance is invaluable in managing skin conditions effectively.
