Genital issues
I have a row of small white spots surrounding my glans, which have been there for two to three years without changing in size.
Recently, I noticed that there are black stripes on my penis, which are about the same length and thickness as this ==.
They are not raised, and I had to look closely to see them.
When I pulled the skin, it cracked, but now it has healed.
I'm not sure what this is, so please let me know.
Thank you.

More Info
When it comes to the appearance of white spots and black stripes on the penis, it is essential to understand that various factors can contribute to these changes, and they may not always indicate a medical issue. Based on your description, it seems that you have noticed white spots around the glans (the head of the penis) and black stripes on the shaft. Here’s a breakdown of what these could potentially be and what you should consider.
White Spots
The white spots you describe could be a few different things:
1. Pearly Penile Papules: These are small, benign growths that are often found around the corona of the glans. They are completely normal and are not a sign of any disease. They typically do not change in size or shape over time.
2. Fordyce Spots: These are small, painless, pale bumps that are actually enlarged oil glands. They are common and harmless, often appearing on the shaft of the penis and can sometimes be mistaken for other conditions.
3. Lichen Sclerosus: This is a skin condition that can cause white patches on the skin, including the genital area. It is usually accompanied by itching or discomfort, but if your spots have been stable for years without any symptoms, this is less likely.
4. Infections or STIs: While less likely given your description, certain sexually transmitted infections can cause white spots or lesions. If there are any changes in your sexual health or if you experience discomfort, it’s essential to consult a healthcare provider.
Black Stripes
The black stripes you’ve noticed could be attributed to:
1. Normal Variations: Sometimes, the skin on the penis can have natural variations in pigmentation. This can appear as dark lines or stripes and may not indicate any health issue.
2. Friction or Irritation: If you’ve experienced any friction or irritation, this could lead to hyperpigmentation, where the skin darkens in response to repeated trauma or irritation.
3. Lichen Planus: This is a condition that can cause dark lines or streaks on the skin, but it usually comes with other symptoms such as itching or discomfort.
4. Vascular Changes: Sometimes, changes in blood flow or vascularity can lead to changes in skin color, particularly in areas that are more sensitive or have been subjected to pressure.
Recommendations
1. Observation: Since you mentioned that the white spots have been stable for a couple of years and have not changed in size, it is likely that they are benign. However, any new changes, discomfort, or symptoms should prompt a visit to a healthcare provider.
2. Consult a Dermatologist or Urologist: If you are concerned about the appearance of these spots or stripes, or if you notice any changes, it is best to consult a specialist. They can perform a physical examination and may recommend further tests if necessary.
3. Maintain Hygiene: Keeping the area clean and dry can help prevent irritation and potential infections. Avoid using harsh soaps or products that could cause irritation.
4. Avoid Self-Diagnosis: While it’s helpful to gather information, self-diagnosing can lead to unnecessary anxiety. A healthcare professional can provide a proper diagnosis and peace of mind.
In conclusion, while the white spots and black stripes you are observing may not be a cause for concern, it is always best to err on the side of caution and seek professional advice if you have any doubts or if there are changes in your condition. Regular check-ups and open communication with your healthcare provider are key to maintaining sexual health.
