Pearly penile papules?
Doctor, I have developed small white bumps on the glans of my penis, particularly around the corona.
There are quite a few of them, and they have been present for several years.
They are not painful or itchy.
I clean the area by retracting the foreskin and washing it with soap 2-3 times a day, and I have not engaged in sexual intercourse.
What could this condition be? Will it resolve on its own?

Hello, sir: Thank you for your inquiry.
I would like to respond to your question and provide the following advice: Based on your description, those small white particles appear to be a normal phenomenon rather than a disease, so there is no need for excessive concern.
Additionally, these white particles are unlikely to disappear.
Finally, I wish you peace and happiness!

Understanding white bumps on the glans can be concerning, especially when they appear in clusters and are persistent over time. Based on your description, it sounds like you may be experiencing a common condition known as pearly penile papules (PPP). These are small, white or flesh-colored bumps that typically appear around the corona (the ridge) of the glans penis. They are harmless and are considered a normal anatomical variation rather than a disease or infection.
Pearly penile papules are not associated with any pain, itching, or discomfort, which aligns with your experience. They are often mistaken for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or other dermatological conditions, but it is important to note that they are benign and do not require treatment. They are most commonly found in young men and are thought to be a normal part of male anatomy.
Another possibility could be sebaceous cysts, which are small, non-painful lumps that can occur due to blocked sebaceous glands. These cysts can also appear white or yellowish and are typically harmless. Like PPP, they do not usually require treatment unless they become infected or bothersome.
In terms of hygiene, it is good that you are maintaining a regular cleaning routine. However, using soap on sensitive areas should be done with caution, as it can sometimes lead to irritation. It is advisable to use mild, unscented soap and to rinse thoroughly to avoid any residue that could cause irritation.
As for whether these bumps will disappear on their own, pearly penile papules typically do not go away without intervention, as they are a permanent anatomical feature. However, they do not pose any health risks. If you are concerned about the appearance of these bumps or if there are any changes in size, color, or if you develop any symptoms such as pain or itching, it would be wise to consult a healthcare provider or a dermatologist. They can provide a definitive diagnosis and discuss any treatment options if necessary.
In summary, while the presence of white bumps on the glans can be alarming, conditions like pearly penile papules and sebaceous cysts are common and benign. Regular monitoring and maintaining good hygiene are key, and if you have any concerns or notice changes, seeking medical advice is always a prudent step.
