There are small white bumps on the penis that can be squeezed?

There are many small, bump-like lesions on the genital area that resemble pimples and can be squeezed, but it's difficult to extract them.
They are painful, and there are none below the glans.
It feels like they are increasing in number.
What should I do?

Common skin protrusions may be caused by keratin abnormal proliferation known as seborrheic keratosis, which appears as skin-colored or light brown, round, and multiple lesions.
These small white nodules resemble tiny beads, about the size of a pinhead, and are primarily due to cystic retention of keratin in the upper dermis.
They may also result from androgen-induced sebaceous gland hyperplasia during puberty, ectopic sebaceous glands, or epidermal pigment deposition.
However, seborrheic keratosis appears white, while sebaceous gland hyperplasia is yellow, and treatment is usually not necessary for seborrheic keratosis.
Some of these lesions can occur on the penis or directly on the nipples.
Additionally, some small papules are referred to as pearly penile papules.
This condition does not affect your health or physiological function, and if asymptomatic, no treatment is required.
Approximately 10% of males may develop pearly penile papules.
These small papules are arranged in rows (circumferentially) along the coronal sulcus of the penis, ranging from the size of a pinhead to that of a millet seed, and are skin-colored or light pink.
They cannot be washed or scraped off, are painless and non-itchy, representing a benign skin condition.
The exact cause is still unclear, but it does not impact the patient's overall health, urinary function, or sexual function, and it is not contagious.
The color of pearly penile papules can be pink, white, or yellow, with transparent ones being less common.
They typically measure 1-2 mm in width and 1-4 mm in length, appearing as round papules arranged in single or double rows along the coronal sulcus of the penis.
They usually have no symptoms and are often discovered incidentally by the patient.
However, it is still advisable to consult a dermatologist or urologist for any concerns, as a physician often needs to perform a visual examination, palpation, and history-taking to confirm the diagnosis.
Therefore, it is recommended to visit a nearby medical facility for evaluation.

When it comes to the appearance of white bumps on the penis, there are several potential causes that can be considered. It's important to approach this issue with care and understanding, as the presence of such bumps can be concerning. Here are some common causes and considerations:
1. Pearly Penile Papules: These are small, harmless bumps that typically appear around the corona of the glans (the head of the penis). They are a normal anatomical variation and are not a sign of any disease. They are often mistaken for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) but are completely benign.

2. Fordyce Spots: These are small, painless, pale bumps that can appear on the shaft of the penis. They are sebaceous glands that are not associated with hair follicles and are also harmless. They do not require treatment unless they cause psychological distress.

3. Folliculitis: This condition occurs when hair follicles become inflamed, often due to infection or irritation. It can result in red or white bumps that may be painful or itchy. Good hygiene and avoiding tight clothing can help manage this condition.

4. Genital Warts: Caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), genital warts can appear as small, flesh-colored or white bumps. They can be itchy or uncomfortable and may require treatment from a healthcare provider.

5. Molluscum Contagiosum: This viral infection leads to small, firm, raised bumps that can be white or skin-colored. They are contagious and can spread through skin-to-skin contact.

6. Cysts: Sebaceous cysts can form on the penis and may appear as small bumps. They are generally harmless and can be left alone unless they become infected or bothersome.

7. Other Infections: Conditions such as herpes or other STIs can cause bumps or sores on the genital area. If the bumps are painful, accompanied by discharge, or if there are other symptoms such as fever or swollen lymph nodes, it is crucial to seek medical attention.

Recommendations:
- Avoid Self-Diagnosis: While it can be tempting to self-diagnose based on internet research, it is essential to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis. They can perform a physical examination and may recommend tests if necessary.

- Maintain Hygiene: Keeping the genital area clean and dry can help prevent infections and irritations. Avoid using harsh soaps or products that can irritate the skin.

- Avoid Picking or Squeezing: Attempting to pop or squeeze the bumps can lead to irritation, infection, or scarring. It’s best to leave them alone until you have a professional opinion.

- Monitor Changes: Keep track of any changes in the bumps, such as size, color, or associated symptoms like pain or discharge. This information will be helpful for your healthcare provider.

- Consider Safe Practices: If you are sexually active, practicing safe sex can help reduce the risk of STIs, which can manifest as bumps or sores.

In conclusion, while the appearance of white bumps on the penis can be alarming, many causes are benign and do not require treatment. However, it is essential to consult a healthcare provider to rule out any serious conditions and to receive appropriate guidance based on your specific situation.
