During bowel movements, a substance resembling semen appears from the penis?
Hello doctor, today during bowel movement, I noticed a white, sticky fluid coming from my penis, but it doesn't have much of a smell.
The last time I masturbated was three weeks ago.
Could this be semen? I have no abnormalities when urinating; there is no pain or burning.
Three days ago, I had a routine urinalysis at the clinic, and the results showed trace protein (+,-), ketones (+,+,+), and 4-6 white blood cells per high power field, with a positive reaction for occult blood (+,-).
The doctor reviewed the report and said there were no issues, but I am still worried, especially since this situation has occurred again today.
I'm not sure what to do.

When it comes to the presence of white discharge from the penis during bowel movements, there are several potential explanations to consider. It is important to approach this situation with a clear understanding of the possible causes and to seek medical advice if necessary.
Firstly, the white discharge you are experiencing could be related to a few benign conditions. One possibility is that what you are observing is pre-ejaculatory fluid, also known as pre-cum. This fluid is produced by the Cowper's glands and can sometimes be released during bowel movements, especially if there is any straining involved. This fluid is typically clear to milky in appearance and is usually odorless, which aligns with your description.
Another potential cause could be mucus. The male reproductive system and the urinary tract can produce mucus, which may sometimes be expelled during bowel movements. This mucus can appear white and may have a slippery texture. It is not uncommon for individuals to notice variations in discharge based on dietary changes, hydration levels, or even stress.
However, it is also essential to consider the possibility of an underlying medical condition. Given your recent urinalysis results, which indicated the presence of protein and ketones, it would be prudent to follow up with your healthcare provider. While the doctor mentioned that there were no significant issues, the presence of these substances in your urine could indicate a need for further evaluation. Protein in the urine can sometimes suggest kidney issues, while ketones can indicate that your body is burning fat for energy, which may occur in certain metabolic conditions or if you are dehydrated.
In addition, if the discharge is accompanied by any other symptoms such as pain, burning during urination, or changes in urinary frequency, it could suggest a urinary tract infection (UTI) or another infection. Even if you are not currently experiencing these symptoms, it is important to monitor your health closely.
If the white discharge continues or if you develop any new symptoms, I recommend scheduling an appointment with a urologist. They can perform a thorough examination and may recommend additional tests, such as a urine culture or imaging studies, to rule out any potential issues.
In summary, while the white discharge you are experiencing could be benign, it is essential to remain vigilant about your health. Keep track of any changes in your symptoms, and do not hesitate to seek medical advice if you have concerns. Your health is paramount, and a healthcare professional can provide the best guidance tailored to your specific situation.
