Missed menstruation?
My menstrual cycle is usually around 33 days (sometimes it comes a few days early or late).
My last period started on October 11 and after it ended, I occasionally noticed light brown spotting in my discharge (very little) with no unusual odor.
This continued until October 30 (which I estimate to be my ovulation day), after which my discharge returned to normal.
The only instance of sexual intercourse this month was on November 10 (three days before my expected period) without a condom, but there was no ejaculation inside.
Since last week, I have been experiencing some premenstrual symptoms and have felt like my period is about to start, but it still hasn't come.
Could this indicate a possibility of pregnancy, or is there something else going on?

When it comes to missed periods, the possibility of pregnancy is often a primary concern, especially if there has been unprotected sexual intercourse. In your case, you mentioned that your menstrual cycle typically lasts around 33 days, with some variability. Your last period started on October 11, and you had unprotected intercourse on November 10, which is just a few days before your expected period. Given this timeline, let’s explore the potential reasons for your missed period and the implications of your symptoms.
Firstly, it’s important to note that a missed period can indeed indicate pregnancy, especially if you have had unprotected sex during your fertile window. The fertile window typically spans from about five days before ovulation to the day of ovulation itself. Since you indicated that your estimated ovulation date was around October 30, and you had intercourse on November 10, it is possible that sperm could still be viable if ovulation occurred later than expected, leading to potential fertilization.
However, there are other factors to consider that could explain your missed period. Stress, changes in routine, illness, significant weight loss or gain, and hormonal imbalances can all affect your menstrual cycle. You mentioned experiencing premenstrual symptoms, which can sometimes occur even when a period is delayed. These symptoms can include breast tenderness, mood swings, and abdominal cramps, which are often associated with the hormonal changes that precede menstruation.
The presence of light brown discharge or spotting can also be indicative of several things. It could be a sign of implantation bleeding, which occurs when a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining, typically around a week after conception. However, it could also be related to hormonal fluctuations or even the onset of your period, albeit in a delayed manner.
Given your situation, the best course of action would be to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are most reliable when taken after a missed period, as they measure the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), which is produced during pregnancy. If the test is positive, it would confirm pregnancy, and you should schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider for further evaluation and prenatal care. If the test is negative and your period still does not arrive, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional to explore other potential causes for your missed period.
In summary, while there is a possibility that you could be pregnant given the timing of your sexual activity and your missed period, it is also essential to consider other factors that might be influencing your menstrual cycle. Taking a pregnancy test and consulting with a healthcare provider will provide clarity and help you understand your situation better. Remember that maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing stress, and keeping track of your menstrual cycle can help you identify patterns and changes in your reproductive health.
