There is redness between the glans and the foreskin?

I noticed that the area between my foreskin and glans is red (only on the right side) and feels slightly painful when touched, but it doesn't itch.
I just discovered this today after masturbating yesterday.
Why could this be happening? I also have a problem with phimosis.

More Info

The redness you are experiencing between the glans (the head of the penis) and the foreskin could be attributed to several factors, especially considering that you mentioned it occurred after masturbation and that you have a history of phimosis (tight foreskin). Here are some potential causes and solutions:

Potential Causes:
1. Irritation or Friction: Engaging in masturbation can sometimes lead to irritation of the sensitive skin in that area, especially if there was excessive friction or if lubrication was insufficient. This can cause redness and discomfort.

2. Infection: Conditions such as balanitis (inflammation of the glans) or posthitis (inflammation of the foreskin) can cause redness and pain. These infections can be due to bacteria, fungi, or yeast, and they may occur more frequently in individuals with phimosis due to difficulty in maintaining proper hygiene.

3. Allergic Reaction: If you used any products (such as soaps, lotions, or lubricants) that your skin may be sensitive to, this could lead to an allergic reaction, resulting in redness and discomfort.

4. Skin Conditions: Conditions like eczema or psoriasis can also affect the genital area, leading to redness and irritation.

5. Phimosis: Since you mentioned having phimosis, the tightness of the foreskin can lead to difficulty in cleaning the area properly, which can contribute to irritation or infection.

Solutions:
1. Gentle Cleaning: Ensure that you are cleaning the area gently with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh soaps or products that may irritate the skin further.

2. Avoid Irritation: Try to avoid any activities that may cause further irritation, such as masturbation or sexual activity, until the redness and discomfort subside.

3. Topical Treatments: Over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream may help reduce inflammation and redness, but it is essential to consult with a healthcare provider before applying any topical treatments, especially in sensitive areas.

4. Consult a Healthcare Provider: If the redness persists, worsens, or if you develop additional symptoms (such as discharge, increased pain, or fever), it is crucial to see a healthcare provider. They can perform a physical examination and may recommend tests to determine if there is an underlying infection or other condition that needs treatment.

5. Consider Circumcision: If phimosis is a recurring issue and is causing discomfort or hygiene problems, discussing the option of circumcision with a urologist may be beneficial. This procedure can alleviate the tightness of the foreskin and reduce the risk of future infections.

Conclusion:
While occasional redness and discomfort can occur after masturbation, especially with phimosis, it is essential to monitor the symptoms closely. If the condition does not improve or if you have concerns about potential infections or other underlying issues, seeking medical advice is the best course of action. Remember, maintaining good hygiene and being gentle with the area can help prevent irritation and complications in the future.
