Long-term absence of morning erections and infrequent nocturnal emissions?
Hello, doctor.
I would like to ask about my situation: Since around last August, I have noticed that I rarely experience morning erections, and when I do, they are not very firm.
In the past few months, this has worsened, and I also have very infrequent nocturnal emissions (almost not at all), which are clear rather than white.
Additionally, I have fewer erections during the day (though they still occur), and they seem to become soft more quickly.
I started to experience these symptoms after I began to masturbate more frequently last year, but even though I haven't masturbated recently, there has been no improvement.
Is this related to masturbation? Although I mentioned that the semen from my nocturnal emissions is very thin, when I masturbated a month ago, the semen was thick.
Why is that? Furthermore, I am going to high school this year and experiencing academic pressure, and I have been sleeping late for a long time and exercising very little.
Could this be related to stress and lack of sleep? Does this count as a sexual dysfunction? I'm only in the ninth grade...
I'm a bit worried.
What are some ways to improve this? Thank you for taking the time to read my question.

There are many causes of sexual dysfunction, including age, organic factors (vascular and neurological function), psychological factors, and male endocrine function.
It is recommended that you visit a hospital for a physician's evaluation and a comprehensive examination to address your concerns.
Additionally, lack of exercise, high stress, and irregular lifestyle can certainly affect your sexual function.

Understanding changes in morning erections and ejaculation patterns during adolescence can be complex, as these changes are influenced by a variety of factors including hormonal fluctuations, psychological stress, sleep patterns, and lifestyle choices.
Firstly, it's important to recognize that morning erections, also known as nocturnal penile tumescence, are a normal physiological response in males, particularly during puberty. These occurrences are typically linked to REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, which is a stage of sleep associated with dreaming. It is not uncommon for the frequency and firmness of morning erections to fluctuate during adolescence due to hormonal changes and other factors. The absence of morning erections does not necessarily indicate a problem, especially if you are still able to achieve erections during sexual arousal or stimulation.
Regarding your concerns about ejaculation, the consistency and volume of semen can vary significantly based on several factors, including hydration levels, frequency of ejaculation, and overall health. It is normal for semen to appear different on different occasions, and variations in color and consistency can occur. The fact that you have noticed changes in your semen's appearance, such as it being more transparent and less viscous at times, may be influenced by your hydration status or the frequency of ejaculation.
You mentioned an increase in masturbation frequency, which is a common behavior during adolescence. While masturbation itself is a normal and healthy sexual activity, excessive or compulsive behavior can sometimes lead to temporary changes in sexual function or performance. However, it is essential to note that occasional fluctuations in sexual function are typical and do not necessarily indicate a sexual dysfunction.
The factors you identified—stress related to upcoming high school, irregular sleep patterns, and lack of physical activity—can significantly impact both mental and physical health, including sexual health. Stress can lead to anxiety, which may affect libido and erectile function. Additionally, poor sleep quality and insufficient rest can disrupt hormonal balance, further influencing sexual health. Regular exercise is known to improve mood, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being, which could positively impact your sexual health.
To address your concerns, consider the following recommendations:
1. Establish a Regular Sleep Schedule: Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night. Consistent sleep patterns can help regulate hormones and improve overall health.
2. Manage Stress: Engage in stress-reducing activities such as mindfulness, meditation, or physical exercise. Finding healthy outlets for stress can help alleviate anxiety and improve your mood.
3. Stay Active: Incorporate regular physical activity into your routine. Exercise can boost mood, improve sleep quality, and enhance overall physical health.
4. Limit Stimulants: Reduce caffeine and screen time before bed to improve sleep quality.
5. Open Communication: If you feel comfortable, consider discussing your concerns with a trusted adult or healthcare provider. They can provide guidance and support tailored to your situation.
6. Monitor Changes: Keep track of any changes in your sexual health and overall well-being. If you notice persistent issues or have concerns, consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation.
In conclusion, while fluctuations in morning erections and ejaculation patterns can be concerning, they are often part of the normal developmental process during adolescence. By addressing lifestyle factors such as sleep, stress, and physical activity, you can promote better sexual health and overall well-being. If issues persist, seeking professional advice can provide reassurance and guidance.
