Finding Free Mental Health Support: A Guide for Those in Crisis - Psychiatry

Are there any free psychiatrists available for consultation?

I have had suicidal thoughts since elementary school, but I didn't know how to go about it.
It feels like there are several versions of myself in my mind that discuss things with me, and my memory isn't very good; I've had a concussion before.
Throughout middle school and into adulthood, I've continued to have suicidal thoughts.
My classmates and colleagues see me as the life of the party, but after entering the workforce, I've suppressed my negative emotions, with only my anger being uncontrollable.
The last time I acted on these feelings was on New Year's Eve several years ago, when I climbed onto a rooftop that was difficult to access, just one step away from making everyone regret it.
My family says I must be too fortunate to have depression.
Later, while gazing at my grandfather's grave nearby, I missed him so much that I cried uncontrollably.
Eventually, one part of me talked me out of it, deciding not to commit suicide! The reason was that one part of me wanted to kill someone, while another wanted to be shot randomly! Haha! I must be on God's blacklist.
During college, I saw a psychiatrist for a while, but my mother wouldn't let me take medication, saying it would lead to addiction.
I insisted on seeing a doctor, but I eventually stopped due to the high costs of long-term appointments; I preferred to save that money for other things.
I often cry inexplicably when I'm alone, while in front of others, I appear cold-blooded and ruthless, not caring about the consequences.
When I see something pitiful or listen to sentimental songs alone, I end up in tears.
I don't think suicide is the problem; the issue is that every time I see news about people like Cheng Chieh, my heart races...
but thankfully, my rational side tells me this is wrong, and I have a wife and children, so I won't go through with it.
I know I have a problem and need to see a doctor, but I don't want to spend money endlessly.
I want to control my anger; when I'm angry with my family, it feels like the end of the world.
If I can manage not to let it affect others, is there a solution? Additionally, I want to control my sexual urges; I'm exhausted, yet I still feel the need! Which specialty should I see? Psychiatry?

To see a doctor, you must at least pay the health insurance-related fees.
Where is it free? I don't know.

It sounds like you are going through an incredibly challenging time, and I want to acknowledge the depth of your feelings and experiences. The thoughts and emotions you are describing, including suicidal ideation, anger, and the sense of being overwhelmed, are serious and deserve attention and support. It's commendable that you are reaching out for help and seeking to understand your situation better.

First and foremost, it's important to recognize that you are not alone in feeling this way. Many people experience similar struggles, and there are resources available to help you navigate through these difficult emotions. Seeking professional help is a crucial step, and I encourage you to consider visiting a mental health professional, such as a psychiatrist or psychologist. They can provide a proper diagnosis and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
You mentioned concerns about the cost of treatment, which is a valid concern for many. However, there are often community mental health services, non-profit organizations, and support groups that offer free or low-cost mental health support. These resources can provide counseling, therapy, and support groups where you can connect with others who understand what you are going through.
In terms of managing your anger and emotional responses, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a highly effective treatment that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. This type of therapy can help you develop coping strategies to manage your anger and improve your emotional regulation. Additionally, mindfulness and relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing exercises, meditation, and yoga, can also be beneficial in reducing stress and promoting emotional well-being.

Regarding your feelings of anger towards your family, it's important to explore these emotions in a safe environment. Family therapy might also be an option to consider, as it can help improve communication and understanding within your family unit. It’s essential to express your feelings in a constructive way, and a therapist can guide you in doing so.

As for your concerns about sexual urges and how they affect your life, discussing this openly with a mental health professional can help you understand these feelings better and find ways to manage them. They can provide insights into how these urges may relate to your overall emotional state and help you develop strategies to cope with them in a healthy manner.

Lastly, I want to emphasize the importance of reaching out to someone you trust, whether it's a friend, family member, or a support group. Sharing your feelings can alleviate some of the burdens you are carrying and provide you with additional support.

In summary, please consider seeking help from a mental health professional who can provide you with the support and guidance you need. There are resources available that can help you manage your emotions, improve your mental health, and find a path forward. You deserve to feel better and to have a fulfilling life. Remember, reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
