Glans issues
At the age of 18, I underwent a circumcision.
After the procedure, I noticed that while my underwear does not irritate the glans, touching it with my hand causes a sharp pain, and it is very sensitive.
If my underwear intentionally rubs against it, I get an erection.
During sexual intercourse, I find that I finish very quickly due to the sensitivity, which is quite bothersome.
Should I see a doctor directly, or are there other methods to address this issue?

It sounds unusual.
Since it has been two years since the circumcision, it shouldn't be that sensitive.
If you have concerns, it is advisable to see a urologist for an examination and to discuss it with the doctor.

More Info
Sensitivity issues following circumcision can be a common concern for many individuals. After circumcision, the glans (or head) of the penis, which was previously covered by the foreskin, becomes exposed to friction and stimulation that it was not accustomed to. This can lead to heightened sensitivity, discomfort, or pain during physical contact, including during sexual activity.
In your case, experiencing pain when touching the glans with your hand, as well as heightened sensitivity that leads to premature ejaculation during intercourse, are significant concerns that warrant attention. It is important to understand that while some sensitivity is normal after circumcision, excessive sensitivity that interferes with daily activities or sexual function is not typical and should be addressed.
Here are some points to consider regarding your situation:
1. Understanding Sensitivity: After circumcision, the glans undergoes a process of keratinization, which is the thickening of the skin to protect it from friction. This process can take time, and during this period, heightened sensitivity is common. However, if the sensitivity persists for an extended period or worsens, it may indicate an underlying issue.
2. Possible Causes: The sensitivity you are experiencing could be due to several factors, including:
- Nerve Sensitivity: The nerves in the glans may still be overly sensitive post-surgery.
- Scar Tissue: If there is any abnormal scarring from the circumcision, it could lead to discomfort.
- Psychological Factors: Anxiety or stress related to sexual performance can also heighten sensitivity and lead to premature ejaculation.
3. When to See a Doctor: It is advisable to see a healthcare professional if:
- The sensitivity is causing significant pain or discomfort.
- You are experiencing issues with sexual performance, such as premature ejaculation, that affect your quality of life.
- You notice any unusual changes in the appearance of the glans or surrounding areas, such as redness, swelling, or discharge.
4. Potential Treatments: Depending on the evaluation by your healthcare provider, several treatment options may be available:
- Desensitizing Creams: Topical anesthetics can help reduce sensitivity temporarily.
- Behavioral Techniques: Techniques such as the "stop-start" method or the "squeeze" technique can help manage premature ejaculation.
- Counseling: If anxiety or psychological factors are contributing to your sensitivity, speaking with a mental health professional may be beneficial.
- Medical Intervention: In some cases, further medical intervention may be necessary, such as a referral to a urologist for specialized care.
5. Self-Care Strategies: In the meantime, you might consider:
- Wearing looser-fitting underwear to minimize friction.
- Engaging in sexual activities that allow for gradual acclimatization to stimulation.
- Practicing relaxation techniques to reduce anxiety related to sexual performance.
In conclusion, while some sensitivity after circumcision is normal, the level of discomfort and the impact on your sexual function that you are experiencing suggests that it would be prudent to consult with a healthcare professional. They can provide a thorough evaluation and recommend appropriate treatment options tailored to your specific situation. Remember, addressing these concerns early can lead to better outcomes and improved quality of life.
