Postoperative Diet
After circumcision, is it okay to eat nuts such as pumpkin seeds, cashews, or macadamia nuts? I found conflicting information online; some say you shouldn't eat pumpkin seeds after surgery, while others say it's fine, so I'm asking here.
Also, since I'm trying to eat light foods, if I order vegetarian noodles and add some black vinegar or white vinegar, will that have any adverse effects?

Dr. Cai Xiuwen reply Nutrition
Hello! Unless you have an allergy to pumpkin, there is no need to restrict its consumption.
Pumpkin is rich in nutrients and beneficial for health.
When using plastic bags for pasta with vinegar, be cautious, as the vinegar may leach harmful substances from the plastic.
Therefore, it is recommended to avoid this practice.

After circumcision, it is essential to focus on a diet that promotes healing and minimizes discomfort. Generally, nuts such as pumpkin seeds, cashews, and macadamia nuts can be included in the diet post-surgery, but there are some considerations to keep in mind.
Firstly, nuts are a good source of healthy fats, protein, and various vitamins and minerals. However, they can also be hard to digest for some individuals, especially if they are not used to consuming them regularly. If your body is not accustomed to nuts, it might be wise to introduce them gradually into your diet after surgery. This approach allows you to monitor how your body reacts and ensures that you do not experience any gastrointestinal discomfort.
Regarding pumpkin seeds specifically, there is some anecdotal evidence suggesting that they might not be ideal immediately after surgery due to their potential to cause irritation or discomfort in some individuals. However, this is not universally applicable, and many people can consume them without any issues. If you have concerns, it may be best to avoid them for the first few days post-surgery and then reintroduce them slowly.
As for the consumption of vinegar, such as black vinegar or white vinegar, in your meals, it is generally considered safe. Vinegar can aid digestion and may even have some anti-inflammatory properties. However, if you experience any discomfort or irritation after consuming vinegar, it would be prudent to limit or avoid it until you have fully healed.
In the early stages of recovery, it is advisable to stick to a bland diet that is easy on the stomach. Foods that are soft, low in acidity, and not overly spicy are typically recommended. This includes items like plain rice, boiled potatoes, steamed vegetables, and lean proteins. Gradually, you can start incorporating a wider variety of foods, including nuts and vinegar, as your recovery progresses.
Additionally, staying hydrated is crucial during the recovery period. Drinking plenty of water helps maintain overall health and can aid in the healing process. Avoiding excessive caffeine and alcohol is also recommended, as these can lead to dehydration and may interfere with your body’s ability to heal.
In summary, you can eat nuts after circumcision, but it’s best to introduce them gradually and pay attention to how your body responds. Avoid any foods that cause discomfort, and focus on a balanced diet that supports healing. If you have any specific concerns or experience unusual symptoms, it is always a good idea to consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice.
