Postoperative issues
Hello, last Thursday I underwent a penile curvature correction surgery due to a downward bend.
According to the doctor, it involved two stitches and was not a traditional circumcision.
Now, on the fifth day post-surgery, I feel a hard lump around the area of the stitches on the foreskin.
I suspect it might be related to the sutures.
Additionally, there are some dark areas on the surface that look like bruising.
Will this gradually disappear over time?
The main concern is that after an erection, the shape appears somewhat distorted.
It's not an exaggeration; it looks a bit deformed, uneven, and bumpy.
Before the surgery, it was simply a downward bend without any left or right deviation, and it looked relatively normal.
The doctor mentioned that I should wait for some time for it to heal naturally.
Since it's only the fifth day, I'm very anxious and would like to know if this is due to the tissues still being in the recovery phase after surgery, or if the uneven blood flow during an erection is causing this, or if there are other factors involved.
I'm worried that this is how my erections will look in the future.
Initially, it was just a downward bend but still looked decent.

Hello: Bruises will definitely fade within 1-2 weeks.
As for the shape, it's not my area of expertise; you may want to consult your surgeon for that.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
After undergoing penile curvature correction surgery, it is common for patients to have concerns about the healing process and the final aesthetic and functional outcomes. Based on your description, it seems you are experiencing some typical post-operative symptoms, including the presence of hard lumps at the suture sites and discoloration resembling bruising. These symptoms are generally expected after such a procedure and should gradually improve over time.
Understanding Post-Surgery Changes
1. Sutures and Hard Lumps: The hard lumps you feel are likely the sutures that are still present in the tissue. As the body heals, these sutures will dissolve or be absorbed, and the hardness should diminish. It is essential to follow your surgeon's post-operative care instructions, which may include avoiding certain activities that could stress the surgical site.
2. Bruising: The black or dark areas you see are likely bruising, which is a common occurrence after surgery due to the trauma to the tissues. Bruising typically resolves within a few weeks as the body reabsorbs the blood that has pooled in the area.
3. Changes in Shape During Erection: The irregular shape you are noticing during erections is understandably concerning. It is important to remember that the surgical site is still healing, and the tissues may be swollen or inflamed. This can lead to temporary changes in the appearance and function of the penis.
Factors Influencing Recovery
- Healing Process: The healing process can take several weeks to months. During this time, it is not uncommon for the penis to appear different than it did pre-surgery. As the swelling decreases and the tissues heal, the shape may improve.
- Tissue Response: The body’s response to surgery can vary significantly from person to person. Factors such as blood flow, tissue elasticity, and individual healing rates can all influence the final outcome.
- Post-Operative Care: Adhering to your surgeon's recommendations regarding activity restrictions, hygiene, and follow-up appointments is crucial for optimal healing.
When to Seek Help
While some changes are expected, you should contact your surgeon if you experience any of the following:
- Increased pain or discomfort that is not alleviated by over-the-counter pain medications.
- Signs of infection, such as increased redness, swelling, warmth, or discharge from the surgical site.
- Persistent changes in shape or function that do not improve over time.
- Any other concerning symptoms that make you feel uneasy.
Conclusion
It is understandable to feel anxious about the changes you are experiencing after your surgery. However, it is essential to give your body time to heal and to maintain open communication with your healthcare provider. They can provide reassurance and guidance tailored to your specific situation. Remember, it is still early in your recovery, and many patients see significant improvements as they continue to heal. If you have ongoing concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to your surgeon for further evaluation and support.
