Pregnancy probability, hot hands and feet?

Hello, Doctor: I usually have cold hands and feet, but for the past two weeks, my hands and feet have been feeling hot.
At night, I get so hot that I can't sleep.
My last menstrual period was on June 19, with an average cycle of 33 to 34 days.
I had sexual intercourse on July 10, and my period has not arrived this month.
Is it possible that I am pregnant? A few days ago, I visited a traditional Chinese medicine doctor, but they didn't say much.
My palms and soles are really hot to the touch.
I want to see a Western medicine doctor but I'm not sure which specialty to consult.
Could you please clarify this for me? Thank you.

Hello, a pregnancy test should suffice to determine if you are pregnant.
As for the feeling of warmth in your hands and feet, it would be best to consult an internal medicine specialist.
Wishing you good health!

Experiencing hot hands and feet can indeed be a symptom associated with pregnancy, but it can also be attributed to various other factors. In your case, given that you have a history of cold extremities and are now experiencing warmth in your hands and feet, it could be indicative of hormonal changes that often accompany pregnancy.
When a woman becomes pregnant, her body undergoes significant hormonal shifts, particularly an increase in progesterone and estrogen. These hormones can affect blood circulation and metabolism, leading to sensations of warmth or heat in the body, especially in the extremities. Additionally, increased blood volume during pregnancy can also contribute to a feeling of warmth as the body works harder to supply nutrients and oxygen to the developing fetus.

Your last menstrual period was on June 19, and you had sexual intercourse on July 10, which places you in a timeframe where a missed period could suggest a potential pregnancy. Given that your menstrual cycle averages 33-34 days, if you have not yet had your period, it would be advisable to take a home pregnancy test for a more definitive answer. These tests are designed to detect the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining.

If the test is positive, the warmth in your hands and feet could be a normal symptom of early pregnancy. However, if the test is negative and your period still does not arrive, it may be worth consulting a healthcare provider to explore other possible causes for your symptoms. Conditions such as hormonal imbalances, thyroid issues, or even anxiety can lead to changes in body temperature regulation and sensations of heat.

In terms of seeking medical advice, you might consider visiting an obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN) if you suspect pregnancy, as they specialize in women's reproductive health and can provide guidance on prenatal care and any symptoms you may be experiencing. If your symptoms persist or worsen, or if you have concerns about your overall health, a primary care physician or an endocrinologist could also be appropriate, especially if there are signs of hormonal issues.

In conclusion, while hot hands and feet can be a symptom of pregnancy due to hormonal changes, it is essential to confirm your pregnancy status with a test and consult with a healthcare provider for a comprehensive evaluation of your symptoms. Early prenatal care is crucial for a healthy pregnancy, and addressing any concerns you have will help ensure both your well-being and that of your potential future child.
