Itchy sensation between the glans and the foreskin?
Dear Doctor: Recently, due to the extremely cold weather, I have been experiencing itching between the glans and the foreskin.
However, it only itches when I rub it during showering; otherwise, it does not itch.
I visited a doctor who said there were no abnormalities, and all relevant tests came back normal.
However, I have noticed that after masturbating, the surface of the glans feels very dry and has a whitish appearance, similar to dry lips, but it improves after washing with water.
Could this be related to the cold weather, or is it an allergy, or perhaps a psychological issue? Thank you for your response!

Hello: The presence of white discharge on the foreskin and glans may be related to smegma, personal hygiene, or balanitis.
Please consult a urologist or dermatologist.
Sincerely, Dr.

More Info
Itchy sensations between the glans and the foreskin can be a common concern, especially during colder weather. The symptoms you describe, such as itching that occurs primarily during bathing and a feeling of dryness on the glans after masturbation, can be attributed to several factors, including environmental conditions, hygiene practices, and skin sensitivity.
Firstly, cold weather can lead to dry skin, which may affect sensitive areas of the body, including the genital region. The skin in this area is delicate and can react to changes in temperature and humidity. When the air is cold and dry, it can strip moisture from the skin, leading to dryness and irritation. This could explain the sensation of dryness and the white appearance you noted, which may be a result of dry skin or a buildup of dead skin cells.
Secondly, hygiene practices play a crucial role in maintaining skin health. If the area is not cleaned properly, it can lead to irritation or an accumulation of smegma, a natural substance that can cause itching. However, since you mentioned that your doctor performed checks and found no abnormalities, it is likely that your hygiene practices are adequate, but it might be worth reviewing them to ensure that you are gently cleaning the area without causing irritation.
Additionally, the sensation of itching during bathing could be due to the temperature of the water or the products used. Hot water can strip natural oils from the skin, leading to dryness and irritation. If you are using soaps or body washes that contain fragrances or harsh chemicals, these could also contribute to skin irritation. It might be beneficial to use a mild, unscented soap and to avoid hot water when washing the area.
Regarding the dryness and the white appearance after masturbation, this could be a normal response to friction and the natural oils produced by the skin. After sexual activity, the skin may become temporarily irritated or dry, especially if there is a lack of lubrication. Ensuring adequate lubrication during masturbation can help reduce friction and prevent dryness.
As for the possibility of allergies or psychological factors, while it is less likely in your case, skin reactions can sometimes be triggered by allergens or irritants in the environment, such as laundry detergents or personal care products. If you suspect an allergy, consider switching to hypoallergenic products. Psychological factors, such as anxiety or stress, can also manifest physically, but given your symptoms and the context, it seems more related to environmental and physical factors.
In summary, the itchy sensations and dryness you are experiencing are likely due to a combination of cold weather, potential dryness of the skin, and possibly the effects of friction during masturbation. To alleviate these symptoms, consider the following recommendations:
1. Moisturize: Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer on the area after bathing to help combat dryness.
2. Gentle Cleaning: Use mild soap and warm (not hot) water to clean the area, and ensure you rinse thoroughly.
3. Lubrication: If you engage in masturbation, consider using a water-based lubricant to reduce friction.
4. Monitor Products: Pay attention to any new products you may have introduced into your routine that could cause irritation.
If the symptoms persist or worsen, or if you notice any unusual changes, it would be advisable to follow up with your healthcare provider for further evaluation.
