Adebi Dosage and Storage for Pediatric Use - Pediatrics

What is the dosage of Adipex?

Thank you for the doctor's response.
When I took my child for vaccinations, I also asked the doctor to prescribe Adebi, but since the hospital did not have this probiotic, he asked me to buy it at the pharmacy.
I would like to ask a few questions:
1.
When I buy Adebi from the pharmacy and it is not refrigerated, do I need to refrigerate it after opening? Should it be kept in the refrigerator or freezer?
2.
If I give my child half a capsule, should I refrigerate just the opened half or the entire container of Adebi?
3.
My child is currently 9 months and 10 days old; what is the appropriate dosage?
4.
Is it okay to mix it with milk? Because the instructions seem to mention not to combine it with dairy products.
Thank you.

When it comes to the use of Adebi (a probiotic supplement) for pediatric patients, there are several important considerations regarding dosage, storage, and administration. Here’s a comprehensive overview based on your questions.

1. Storage of Adebi:
Adebi should be stored according to the manufacturer's instructions. If the product was not refrigerated at the pharmacy, it is likely that it can be stored at room temperature until opened. However, once you open the package, it is generally recommended to refrigerate it to maintain its potency. Probiotics can be sensitive to heat and moisture, so refrigeration helps preserve the live cultures. It is important to avoid freezing the product, as freezing can kill the beneficial bacteria.

2. Handling Opened Packages:
If you open the Adebi and only use half of it, you should refrigerate the remaining half. The entire opened package should be kept in the refrigerator, not just the portion you have used. This ensures that the probiotics remain viable for as long as possible. Always make sure to seal the package tightly to prevent moisture from entering.

3. Dosage for a 9-Month-Old:
The appropriate dosage for probiotics like Adebi can vary based on the specific formulation and the reason for use. Generally, for infants and young children, the dosage is often lower than that for adults. It is crucial to follow the dosage recommendations provided by your pediatrician or the instructions on the product label. Since your child is 9 months and 10 days old, it is best to consult with your healthcare provider for the exact dosage tailored to your child's needs.

4. Mixing with Milk:
Regarding the administration of Adebi with milk, it is important to note that some probiotics may be sensitive to dairy products. The reason for this is that dairy can sometimes inhibit the effectiveness of certain probiotic strains. If the instructions specifically mention avoiding dairy, it is advisable to follow that guidance. You might consider giving the probiotic separately from milk or other dairy products to ensure maximum efficacy.
In summary, Adebi should be refrigerated after opening, and both the opened and unopened portions should be stored properly to maintain their effectiveness. Always consult your pediatrician for the correct dosage for your child, and be cautious about mixing probiotics with dairy products unless specified otherwise. Probiotics can be beneficial for gut health, especially in young children, but proper usage is key to achieving the desired outcomes. If you have any further questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for personalized advice.
