Menstrual irregularities
Doctor, I would like to ask about my experience after receiving a menstrual induction injection.
A week later, my period started and lasted for five days.
On the fifth day, the flow decreased to the point where I only needed to use panty liners, and this continued until the seventh day.
By the eighth day, it was almost gone.
However, after having sexual intercourse, I went to the bathroom less than an hour later and noticed some blood clots along with a small amount of menstrual blood—not too much, but not too little either.
After that, the bleeding turned into just a little bit of bright red color.
This is my first time receiving a menstrual induction injection; I have only taken menstrual induction pills before.
Is this situation considered normal?

Hello, based on your description, it is possible that there was already a hormonal imbalance issue, which led to irregular menstrual periods and subsequently caused irregular bleeding outside of the menstrual cycle.
It is recommended that if you continue to experience irregular periods or abnormal bleeding, you should consult a gynecologist for examination and treatment.
Thank you! Wishing you peace and health.

More Info
Irregular menstruation after hormonal injections, such as those used to induce menstruation, can be a common occurrence and may not necessarily indicate a problem. When you receive a hormonal injection, your body undergoes a significant shift in hormone levels, which can lead to changes in your menstrual cycle.
In your case, it seems that you experienced a typical response to the injection. Initially, you had a normal menstrual flow that diminished over the course of a week. The reduction in flow after a few days is not unusual, as hormonal treatments can cause variations in the duration and intensity of menstrual bleeding. The presence of blood clots and changes in the color of the blood can also occur due to hormonal fluctuations and the shedding of the uterine lining.
When you mentioned that you experienced a small amount of blood after sexual intercourse, this could be attributed to several factors. It is possible that the blood you observed was residual menstrual blood or a result of the hormonal changes affecting the cervical mucus and vaginal lining. Hormonal treatments can sometimes lead to increased sensitivity or changes in the cervical tissue, which may cause light spotting after intercourse.
It is important to note that while some irregularities can be normal, there are certain signs that should prompt further evaluation. If you experience heavy bleeding, severe pain, or any other concerning symptoms, it is advisable to consult with your healthcare provider. They can perform a thorough evaluation to rule out any underlying issues, such as hormonal imbalances or structural abnormalities in the reproductive system.
In summary, the irregularities you are experiencing after the hormonal injection appear to be within the realm of normal responses to such treatments. However, if you have any ongoing concerns or if your symptoms change, it is always best to seek medical advice. Regular follow-ups with your healthcare provider can help monitor your menstrual health and ensure that any potential issues are addressed promptly.
