Nutrition: Can Eating Only Apples for Dinner Help Weight Loss? - Nutrition

My question..?

Hello, nutritionist: I am currently a student, so I usually sleep until after 10 AM and I don't feel hungry when I wake up, so I skip breakfast and just drink one or two cups of water.
I only start to feel a bit hungry around noon.
For lunch, I eat normally, and before dinner, I usually make vegetable soup.
However, after a little over a week, I've started to dislike it and feel a bit repulsed because I lost 5 kg using my own method in two weeks.
Since I still feel heavy, I became a bit complacent and gained back 0.5 kg in two days.
I was wondering...
during my weight loss period, is it okay to only eat an apple for dinner?! Normally, I make sure to sweat at home, and I exercise at least three times a week.
I also want to ask because my sister said that sweating only releases water from the body and doesn't actually reduce body fat...
Is that true? She said that it would be difficult for me to lose weight, but I really want to lose weight...
> < Please answer my questions...
Thank you! My height is 164.5 cm and my weight is 65 kg.

Hello! Your current weight is at the upper limit of your ideal weight, and it is acceptable to lose a few kilograms, but it is not recommended to go below 53 kilograms.
Regarding your current weight loss method, there is an issue with irregular meal patterns; skipping breakfast can lead to low blood sugar, which affects your metabolic rate.
It is advisable to eat breakfast regularly and not wait until you are hungry.
Having vegetable soup before dinner is great, as high fiber can increase satiety, but you should also have dinner.
You can eat a smaller portion, such as half a bowl of rice along with some vegetables and an egg or fish, while avoiding excessive fats.
Do not rely solely on eating apples.
If you are sweating a lot, you need to replenish fluids to aid metabolism.
You are likely still a high school or college student, and at this stage, you should increase your physical activity.
Your caloric intake should not be too low; excessively low calories can lead to long-term malnutrition, affecting your skin, complexion, and even your development.
It is recommended that you consult a nutritionist at a nutrition counseling clinic to discuss your dietary habits.
Wishing you beauty and health.

To address your question about whether eating only apples for dinner can help with weight loss, it's important to consider the broader context of nutrition and healthy eating habits. While apples are a nutritious fruit, relying solely on them for dinner is not a balanced approach to weight loss or overall health.

Firstly, let's discuss the concept of weight loss. Weight loss occurs when you consume fewer calories than your body expends. However, this doesn't mean that you should drastically restrict your diet or eliminate entire food groups. A healthy weight loss plan should focus on balanced nutrition, which includes a variety of food groups to ensure you receive all the essential nutrients your body needs.

Eating only apples for dinner may lead to a calorie deficit, but it also poses several risks. Apples are high in fiber and can help with digestion, but they lack sufficient protein and healthy fats, which are crucial for maintaining muscle mass and overall health. Protein is particularly important for students and young adults, as it supports growth and development. Additionally, a diet too low in calories can lead to nutritional deficiencies, fatigue, and a decrease in metabolic rate, making it harder to lose weight in the long run.

Regarding your current eating habits, skipping breakfast can negatively impact your metabolism and energy levels throughout the day. It's essential to have a balanced breakfast that includes protein, healthy fats, and carbohydrates. This could be something like yogurt with fruit and nuts or whole-grain toast with avocado and eggs. Eating regularly throughout the day helps maintain stable blood sugar levels and prevents overeating later on.

You mentioned that you have been exercising at least three times a week, which is excellent. Regular physical activity is a key component of any weight loss plan. However, it's important to remember that sweating during exercise is primarily a way for your body to regulate temperature and does not directly correlate with fat loss. While you may lose water weight through sweating, this is temporary and will be regained once you rehydrate. The real benefits of exercise come from building muscle and increasing your overall metabolic rate, which helps burn more calories even at rest.

If you find yourself losing motivation after an initial weight loss, it's crucial to set realistic and sustainable goals. Rapid weight loss can often lead to rebound weight gain, so aim for a gradual loss of about 1-2 pounds per week. This approach is more sustainable and healthier in the long run.

In summary, while apples are a healthy snack, they should not be the sole component of your dinner. A balanced meal should include a variety of food groups, such as lean proteins, whole grains, healthy fats, and plenty of vegetables. Consider consulting with a registered dietitian or nutritionist who can provide personalized advice based on your specific needs and lifestyle. They can help you create a meal plan that supports your weight loss goals while ensuring you maintain a balanced and nutritious diet. Remember, the key to successful weight loss is not just about cutting calories but also about nourishing your body with the right foods.
